Welcome to the first video of the year 🕺
The car is going to it’s first show in march and I’ve got a huge amount to do!
In this video I’m tackling what I call a scuttle cowl (wind deflector) it’s a really tricky shape and very challenging to make.
I didn’t film or go into detail as much as I should of as it required my full attention and sometimes I forgot to record 🤦‍♂️
Please support the channel as it really makes a huge difference

Thanks very much and please subscribe 👨‍🏭

sweet. i've watched a few wray schelin videos, i call him the butcher for his habit of turning panels into absolute mincemeat. pete tommassini is the polar opposite, an absolute master and a joy to watch.

I like that the cowl spans the entire width of the car. To look at it, I know that it seems like your knuckles will bang into it while holding the steering wheel. But they won’t. Sprint cars and midgets have similar clearance and it’s never an issue. Great to see another video!

Tom that car is coming out just beautifully! I am so impressed with your work and ability to just pull something out of your nether region and execute it in aluminum. In my humble opinion the styling is very nice and I do very much like the shape!

Controversial to leave that bit in. He does do some amazing work. In metalwork there are many ways to do something and have the same outcome , you just have to find the way that suits you.

nice. might I suggest putting some vents in it. Seems counter-intuitive, but without them you end up with a lot of turbulence behind. Motorbike fairings use a similar system of balancing pressure.

The bodywork is coming along great. The teardrop on the side of the body, did you make it or buy it in ? I'm recreating a 1929 Morris Minor special which has a similar bulge, would be interested to see how they are made.

Really enjoying the series and it is inspiring me to do something. I was wondering what grade and thickness of aluminium sheet you use and does it need annealing to get the shapes without cracking?

Looking terrific. Btw that English wheel - apparently a Stakesey's, but cast? - they don't seem to be offering this at the mo. Or is it a wheel you cannibalised or made up? Thanks of your helpful content.

Watch the video yourself and come up with your own opinion. When you search reverse curve on KZbin it’s up there but it’s not great and not the right way to do it. It’s not a video where I choose to go into detail on someone else’s video but I put my opinion across. We’re all entitled to an opinion but you fail to mention I do acknowledge I like his other stuff.he’s very skilled and knowledgeable but unfortunately I don’t think that’s one of his better one.
