MetalGarurumon X VS Leopardmon X!! | Digimon Card Game: EX5 Animal Colosseum Beast Wars (ROUND 2)

So Leopardmon X is a card that can fit as the top-end of a couple different builds. It's funny cos when I was theorycrafting my Leopard X build during the EX5 reveal season, I tech'd in a few Green Devas - who would've guessed that Green Devas would end up being 1 of the strongest (if not the current strongest) Leopard X build in the BT14 + EX5 meta. But even though the Devas are Beasts (which technically fit under Leopard's jurisdiction) and their presence in Leopard is somewhat in line with my lore for this tournament, I decided not to use a Green Deva build. I spent a long time thinking about this, but ultimately it boiled down to my intended style for these tournament videos where the goal isn't to showcase the meta / competitive decks, but just to have fun with the characters and each deck's unique mechanics and playstyles - which is why I try to avoid going too off-theme or having overlap between the competing decks. So instead of Green Devas or Leo Leopards, I took inspiration from the 1 event-topping list I could find that was relatively pure Leopard (Green toolbox) and tried to extend its explosive potential while building it to my tastes. As yall can see from the video, ultimately the idea is to turbo into Leopard and Leopard X with Torto/luck + Izzy & Mimi, restrict the opponent with unsuspend prevention and finish the game with your swarm next turn (eking out additional attacks with Panjyamon). Meanwhile, Garuru is Garuru...The new support is nuts.

with the EX5 release being soon globally, I would be curious to see the deva variant if you still have it saved anywhere. The deck is interesting to me but I cant nail down what kind of build is the best version

That is absolutely what I like to see in this series: an anime level comeback. Looking forward to how Fanglongmon fares against Leviamon (and given the Sovereigns’ status, I wouldn’t be surprised if different music played during that battle, a la King Drasil with the Royal Knights)

Considering how good Leopard x is at removal, quartz isn't even really needed. Most decks I see only run it as a 1 of at most which is really nice to see.

considering the deck rust built, it was quite obvious leopard was gonna lose. luck-based builds can't do anything against a much more consistent archetype

Goodness Leopardmon looks so good. The amount of board spam/restand/blockers is just crazy. I hate how melga is able to clear it so easy like that. I guess we may have a new boogie man when this set comes out.

I just really have no clue why they made that new gabumon X line. Like the old one was pretty great already, and we knew how much of a mistake 0-cost evolutions that add memory are, and yet they made garurumon x? And then weregarurumon x giving not one but *two* unsuspends between the on-evo and the inherit, with the second one being practically guaranteed despite being an inherit since the new metalgarurumon ace’s on-digivolution effect means you can evo into it for free?? Not to mention Gabumon X. At least the new melga X and X-antibody are more restrained, except you can still just play the old ones instead… Sorry to be so negative, but seeing the deck in action, it’s just making me deeply sad about the future of the game. I love the gracenovamon deck so much, so I want EX05 to be a format I can have fun in, and yet I feel like it’s just gonna be another “die turn 3 to melga” format. Hopefully I’m wrong though.

Leopard X put up a good fight, but we all knew just how strong an opponent MelgaX was and still is. Guess it’s for the best, the tournament lore would’ve been a mess if Matt lost here. Speaking of tournament lore; next time, weary from his battle with a Royal Knight, Matt will find himself protected by an especially unlikely ally holding off the advance of the 12 Devas & Four Sovereigns themselves. Though one would normally hesitate to put any kind of trust in a Great Demon Lord; Leviamon is looking like the only ally he has that’s strong enough to handle such an army and, if nothing else, buy Matt time to escape.

i do love theese matches and love the anime feel and production value, only thing is after having watched like 3 tournaments, it is easy to guess who wins when a deck is up against the fan favourite deck, but love the video's just wished there would be a few more upsets, cause not everyone is garurumon fans or alphamon and so on, i would have loved it if Leopardmon would have won ^^ but thank you for the video and keep up the good work i will still be watching every tournament comming :D rooting for my Anime favourites even if they aren't the most popular ones :D

I don't actually decide the outcome of each match! I just play it out as best I can. It is unfortunate, but the fan favourite decks are usually the ones that receive the most attention / support from Bandai, which is why they have a higher chance of winning these matches. Also, when it comes to my Community polls, a good number of viewers vote for who they think will win rather than their actual favourite / preferred Digimon!

Protoform can be used on any Digimon without 'X-Antibody' (specific card name) in evolution cards. Digimon with the X-Antibody trait do not count

It would be interesting... The Green Deva build has more stability and comeback potential but they're also unable to burst like Torto toolbox so that Turn 2 combo would've been impossible. If they're lucky they can stall with a Bancho, but their ACEs don't hurt Garuru that much as Garuru has plenty of [On Evolve] unsuspend - they would just end up as Overflow fodder. The only true counter would be Quartz but you don't need to run Green Devas for that. So at least in the context of this one match, I think Green Devas might actually do slightly worse

It is unfortunately quite OP. But it's funny cos a single Bancho on your field can stop their OTK (but you also cant drop Bancho for free if Melga is OTKing you from 5 and you havent inflicted much damage). I didn't want to run it on this tourney cos it's already represented in Leo!

Terrible only because the deck is too slow compared to the meta and shine can just dp minus hexe. Best bet is to use it as a floadgate lvl 6 on a blue flare deck.
