Ayreon is the (main) project of Dutch composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen. He does scifi concept albums (both instrumental and lyrics he writes about 95% of the songs). He has had over 80 different singers on his 9 (double)albums. Most albums are part of the bigger story called the Ayreon Universe. He has not done many live-shows but the ones he did are all killer. The 4 main shows are: 1.) I fucking love ayreon. I discovered them, him, last year via Nightwish. As a nerd whats not to love about Scifi/fantasy based prog rock/metal? The singers are just fantastic as well. Founds so many great ones via ayreon. Check out the Ayreon Universe Live videos, they are really fun.

Thanks for your kind reaction! If you love prog rock you should definitely listen to the whole album, the scifi story The Source! Great mhusiv, very versatile and multiple singers tell the story. Look for the channel of Taycott. Cause there you’ll find a version of the Source with lyrics and which character sings what line. I suspect that would be right up your alley! As for reccomendation, react to Everybody Dies at Ayreon Universe live! Super live performance with many singers.

Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. Like a 1st act of an opera introducing the main characters The rest of the album ( The source) is best album i ever listerned to And this album links up with previous albums going back to the late '80s. I belive Floor was first working with Ayreon in the year 2000, and since she have been a visitor at hes projects regulary, Like Simone Simons from Epica, and i belive also Tommy Karevik, who i think might have the best vocal in this track with Michael Mills.. well all are great in the part they got right.. This song is to me some of the best i heard this decade, there is also other songs by Ayreon i really like, its hard to pick a runner up, but i love listening to the song The dream disolves on my headphones to... well theres a lot of great songs by Ayreon, but this is the one where most is in over it.. 11 main singers..

Btw. We "Dutch" are used to read subtitles and listening at the same time because most of our "tv-shows" from abroad are subtitled. But ...... I can imagine that English speaking countries struggle with this. But, as you said, listening/reading it more than once will do the trick.

Ayreon is not so much a band as a musical project…one of the many of Dutch composer/multi-instrumentalist/ producer Arjen Lucassen. All Ayreon albums are concept albums that tell a story, and he recruits top-notch vocalists from all over the world to sing the parts of the different characters in the story. Floor and her sister Irene are frequent participants. Arjen would probably welcome your Pink Floyd comparison,a she is a big fan, as well. Live performances of Ayreon are few and far between as the logistics of getting all those people together is difficult, at best, but there have been a few and luckily you can find the videos on KZbin. I’d recommend the live performance of Everybody Dies next.
