2:38 Hahahaha! You are the first reactor I have seen that picked up on Miku's incredibly sarcastic "everybody look". I laugh every time I hear it. Too perfect. Miku is such a little genius. Only she could add 100 year old slang to modern songs and make it work. From "don't you dilly dally" in 'Moritorium', to "hunky dory day" in 'Influencer'. 🕊
@Mikupigeon2 жыл бұрын
from one dear Japanese BM fans Flugelhorn Old Man. "Hunky Dory" sounds to me, an aged Japanese, a kind of word play or pun. This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing". This is ironically suitable 😄 to what influencers do, isn't it? In the rap part Saiki is singing "Always that one-upping contest, chit-chat chit-chat". "Chit-chat" sounds "chicchai ちっちゃい" in Japanese. That means "tiny, trivial, frivolous, worthless etc." Miku's lyrics includes a lot of word play. Another source said Miku might have taken it from David Bowie's 4th album Hunky Dory because Saiki is a Bowie fans and they have mentioned this particular album in old interviews more than once. Both explanation makes sense to me, though. Anyway, it stuck in my head since I first heard it, just like dan dan di di dan dan......

@@Mikupigeon I'm Japanese. "Hunky Dory" sure sounds like a Japanese phrase "本気撮り" but I feel it really strange if Miku intended to use this phrase as a double meaning. The same goes with "Chit-chat/ちっちゃい." Actually I don't think these phrases have Japanese connotations at all. This is only my opinion, so if you are interested, I suggest you ask some Japanese whether they feel these phrases have above connotations.
@Mikupigeon2 жыл бұрын
@@ttbird1019 With my rudimentary japanese reading ability, I can understand why he suggested the phase honki tori but not the chitchat one. Personally i believe inspiration from david Bowie's 4th album theory is more likely to the case here, I hope she can tell us more in future interviews.

Everybody look. Miku is an 810 year old troll pigeon. You say "100 year old slang" but I think those phrases much much older than that. "Dilly-dally" is a reduplication of "dally" which came to English from French like 13th or 14th century. Reduplication seems to be very common in English; chit-chat is another, a reduplication of chat. Hunky-dory isn't quite reduplication but similar,; hunky meant "in good condition" since the 13th or 14th century too. But like Mr. Riff points out, hunky-dory is still reasonably common in the South; I heard Grandma and Mama use it when I was a kid.
@yoshima642 жыл бұрын
@@ttbird1019 I think chit-chat has a double meaning After the lyric 'shaa-nai mount gassen(always that one-upping contest)', Miku says 'chit-chat' and shakes her index finger in a negative way. This whole song seems to have multiple meanings :D

I'm from Staffordshire England. Hunky Dory as an expression is alive and well here. I hear it often. My favourite old fashioned English that Miku wrote was in 'Moratorium', the main line was 'Don't Dilly Dally'! That is a really old expression and I never thought it could be used as the main line in a rock song!

From a recent BARKS interview, they discussed about how the lyrics for Influencer came about. Miku (Rhythm/Backup vocals/main lyricist) on a video call with Akane (drums) and Saiki (Lead Vocals) asked what the theme for this song should be. Saiki responded with a laugh "Women living on social media." Miku then read articles where various influencers have been interviewed, and while doing various research, she analyzed things like, “I see. There are quite a few times when the same person writes completely different things on Twitter and Instagram, and makes people wonder, "Are they really the same person?"

The location is an old white granite quarry. What stands out to me is that it is like a natural reality of the artwork on the cover of their 'Unleash' EP in some of the footage. Maybe that's why they picked the location. And I love MISA's new 'battle dress'. I would imagine that in their live shows that bass & guitar section will most probably be extended. Here's hoping! But yes. It is a pointed barb at all those social media 'Influencers' that try to manipulate people into their way or thinking, looking, acting & living.

Funny...🤔...I thought MISA'S solo was 3:23 long!!! "Hate" is the song you want to listen to if you want to feel Saiki's(she wrote the lyrics)anger. Originally, it was an instrumental, but when Saiki heard the demo, she thought Kanami was mad at something; also shows that Akane's second job is in the Quality Control/Destructive Testing Department at Evans Drumheads!!!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

I have read elsewhere that hunky dory sounds similar to a Japanese phrase relevant to the theme of the song and is a double entendre/play on words. I know no Japanese and cannot vouch for that, though. Yes, they are ripping on influencers, and have overloaded the song and video with fanservice and influencer references, like wrecking the gorgeous setting with a white video filter. If you want an angry Band-Maid song, Hate? on the new EP is where you'll find it.
