Yeah dude, these guys are all over the place. Super talented band that tackles a bunch of genres while making them each sound unique. The album this song is from, Infest the Rats' Nest, is a big love letter to thrash metal so any other song from that album should be up your alley. They have another metal album coming out soon that's a bit more technical - I'd suggest checking out their latest single "Dragon" if you wanna hear that! If you wanna hear something less heavy but still insane, their latest KEXP session is very impressive, particularly the song "Magma". Hard to go wrong with this band though since they just love making music, haha

I'm happy you like this band, and yeah they play with genres all the time. If you want more heavy stuff, they just released a track called Dragon that you would like. If you want less metal but still hard rock, I would check out their song Robot Stop, and if you want something more jammy I would listen to The Dripping Tap.

If you want the crazier side of King Gizzard, the album this came from is “Infest the Rat’s Nest”. Full on thrash metal album , with a concept about people going crazy trying to colonize Venus. Second is nonagon infinity. Nonagon Infinity is more like fast paced psychedelic rock. It’s insane and one of the nominees for their best album. It’s a crazy album, and conceptually endless. Also for something in between, that’s also extremely cool musically, is Flying Microtonal Banana. It’s basically an experiment in using micro-tuning to get different chords and progressions that sound weird, until they click and then they become amazing. They’re always trying to make more technically impressive and experimental stuff, and that album is really cool and inspirational in ways I can’t explain. Hope that helps.

KG is extremely prolific, and they are generally "project based," i.e. each album is made with some intent of a theme. Being one of the most creative bands out there, the themes vary widely and can be wild as fuck. A lot of their stuff even contains legendary "trilogies" of songs within albums. _Infest the Rat's Nest_ is their only truly thrash (and some doom/stoner) metal album, and its theme was basically "space-themed apocalyptic thrash epic." Before that album, there were two others with some metal influences: _Nonagon Infinity_ (all tracks run into the next, and the album loops indefinitely) and _Murder of the Universe_ (within the same universe/theme of _Nonagon_ but contains a bonkers spoken-word story), but they still are heavily garage/psych sounding. They haven't released another full thrash album since. If you want to listen to ALL of their most metal songs, there are also a couple on the album _Omnium Gatherum_ which is just a compilation album with songs that didn't make it onto others. Predator X and Gaia are the two metal songs on that record. Their new album, _PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night_ comes out on the 16th, and is also going to be extremely heavy, but I don't think it's going to be as straight thrash as ITRN. I think it's going to be more a mix of ITRN, MotU, and some Tenacious D shit. They also are known for executing odd time signatures extremely well (check out _Polygondwanaland_ if you like prog and polyrhythms), and since ITRN was pure thrash, they didn't do *too much* with weird time signatures because of the style. But both singles of PDA have a lot of it--Dragon basically sounds like TOOL. In any case, always listen to their records straight through. Although each has different themes, genres, and styles, there is a quintessential "sound" that they maintain that you recognize the more you listen to them.

I saw King Gizz at the Caverns in TN on the 3rd and the 4th, it was fucking legendary. They played Gaia, had a tease of their new song Motor Spirit, played Perihilion and Self Imolate. Crowd was going fucking nuts. Someone in the crowd got arrested during Self Imolate cause they threw their chair and we're going insanely hard to this song. If you keep getting into King Gizz and like what they do, definitely try to go see them live, it's a spiritual experience
