Oddly enough I found them by creating my Pandora station. Just kept adding artists, and eventually they popped up. My station now features a genre mix of over 140 artists from every genre and spectrum of music out there for the most part. Dead South is a great find.

Singer Nate Hilts & banjo player Colton Crawford used to be metalheads. After listening to indie-folk by bands like Old Crow Medicine Show & Trampled By Turtles they decided to switch from metal to bluegrass where Crawford learned how to play the banjo for their new genre.

Scott (beard plays the mandolin and sings) loves System of a Down and all of them like metal, punk and other types of music. Colton played electric guitar and had been known to play “metal” music on his banjo.

To be honest, it's right there on the surface though... To me it's very clear from the second time i heard it. A woman cheats on her husband, he than kills her and sings about how he'd like to see her again in hell.
@Diana_L.
@Diana_L. 3 жыл бұрын
@@HolandaChiquita Then there's a song in which they sing that they want liquor and dirty whores, and another in which they sing about sex with their cousin. Worried me a little too, especially after 3 women had accused their cellist of sexual misconduct. Was never proved though.

I discovered the Dead South earlier this year too. I had the same reaction as you. I was transfixed by them. I listen to something by them at least once a day now. I’d recommend reviewing “Broken Cowboy”, “Honey You”, or “Diamond Ring” by them. To be honest, you’ll probably enjoy anything they play. Their full set at the House of Blues in Boston on KZbin is a great watch too!

There are so many great groups out there that you won't hear unless you start digging. Another group to check out that will take you in another complete different direction is Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. I recommend either "We deserve a happy ending" or "Raise a little hell" to start. They have some of the craziest videos and one of the most fanatical fan bases I have ever seen. Rev (Lead vocal, anything with strings), Breezy (Backing vocal, washboard), Max (Drums). From Brown County, Indiana

Scott Pringle (mandolin, guitar, vocals) and Colton "Crawdaddy" Crawford (banjo, kick drum) were both heavy metal guitarists in metal bands. Nate Hilts was always into folk but had appreciation for metal. Then Danny Kenyon was classically trained, so I don't know if he liked metal. But they definitely make great music because of their different musical backgrounds. Their concert was also fantastic, gave all their energy into the audience and the audience gave theirs to them.

Blind and Frozen is really good too and I love Cancion Del Pirata and you will probably enjoy his metal cover of Poker Face. Peter Hollens Hobbits Drinking Medley and Pirates of the Caribbean medley. Pentatonix Gold (watch Kiiara version to truly appreciate how great PTX are), Perfume Medley and Show you How to Love. Superfruit Defying Gravity and Future Friends, not music but Stranger Things season 1 in 3mins is hilarious too.
