This is the final instalment of the Dystopia series. You have “hear no evil” (Scream), “speak no evil” (Boca=Mouth) and “see no evil” (Odd Eye). In this song, they are essentially saying that online people have different personas compared to their real life (see Yoohyeon holding the phone to her face at 3:18 giving her the Odd Eye effect) and the Utopia they thought they found online turned out to be an illusion. Boca and odd eye I understand, there's a lot of mouth and eye symbolisms respectively throughout their videos, dances and lyrics. Saying that Scream is "hear no evil" is REALLY reaching for it though. Scream can be interpreted as "speak no evil" just like it could be "hear no evil". And then in the song and MV, there are WAY more eye symbolisms than anything else ("devil eyes come", "open my eyes", "my eyes are stained with blood", camera shot going to siyeon's eyes through a tunnel, Siyeon wearing many face accessories that either covers her eyes or goes around it, Gahyeon's mask with literally only the eyes part cut off).

@@3z5p935 Is it REALLY reaching though? The song is called Scream, which is an AUDIBLE (as in something you hear) indication of distress. Also, I think there is a lot of overlapping imagery and references intertwined throughout all three videos because it’s an overlapping story (ie “tricks behind the mask” in Scream, first shot of Odd Eye is Yoohyeon sitting on a mask). So yes elements of see, hear and speak could be linked to all videos, but given the most prominent references, I think this analysis makes sense.

@@girlwithluv-multifandom I like your analysis, but if I may, can I suggest a slight alternative? In Scream, they keep saying "I don't wanna scream" and end up with "I want to make you scream"... So to me, this is more like "Speak no evil". In BOCA, they keep saying "Shut your boca"... so if you don't speak, then nothing is heard, so that would mean "Hear no evil". But I understand there is no right answer, this is why this is actual Art, as opposed to some lame tepid unrequited love, heartbroken or men are scum song K-pop (and pop in general) all too often offers, especially from girl groups... It's even possible that they didn't even think about that saying (Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil) when they came up with their concept... we could be interpreting it that way, and that is fine also... Art gets the spectators involved, and they have to make a decision when they want to understand what it all means... Good art has no straightforward answer... Think about the most famous smile in art history, the Mona Lisa. Why is she smiling? No one can tell... the mystery is what makes the charm, I think.

@@JGM0JGM that’s a fair assessment I could see it being interpreted that way as well. I’ve seen a lot of additional theories, so yeah it’s entirely possible they weren’t even referencing “hear/speak/see no evil” at all. Finding the “easter eggs” or double meanings is all just part of the fun.

I'm with girl with luv. In Boca they are telling people to shut their mouths, or 'speak no evil'. In Odd Eye they are talking about the 'evil' we see on social media, thus 'see no evil'. Scream is less obvious. Scream is coming from the victims' point of view. It's about the hate and bullying people 'hear' on social media that makes them want to scream. Hence, 'hear no evil'. There's also a time element running through the series. Scream represents the past with it's Greek columns and SuA's sword. Boca represents the present with it's modern day alleyway setting. And Odd Eye has a definite cyberpunk feel to it. There are also the outfits in each MV that support this theory as well. Obviously there are a lot more details to support all this, these are just the core points.

No clue at all to what the link led to. So K-Area was using this channel to promote their own. I replied to their question "what do you think" by stating I thought it was a shameful tactic... But now they have deleted their post. But, more likely, either KZbin removed it for spamming (I did flag it as spamming, maybe others did as well) or Gus deleted the post.

There is a connection since Scream, Boca and Odd Eye are from a Dystopia series. They are looking for a Utopia since Scream (which looked like the past), Boca (present day) and Odd Eye (in the future) but like the end of the mv, they couldn't find it bc there was never one. Interesting enough, the song plays around theme of hear no evil (scream), speak no evil (boca) and see no evil (odd eye).

Thank you for putting out a video on and promoting Dreamcatcher! Scream, BOCA, and Odd Eye are all a part of the Dystopia series - and the music videos all connect. One of the things that was done was the tree, another was some of the choreography (the end of Odd Eye was the same as the beginning of Scream - there was the hand/fingers motion of BOCA). Fun fact about the choreo - a choreographer came in to collab and had to make it even harder because the girls had learned it all so quickly

Actually, the end of Odd Eye is not the same as the beginning of Scream, close, but not the same... I've heard that comment, and being curious, I compared them side by side with Stage dances... In Scream, they form a circle with their arms in the air, with the other dancers kneeling around them in a circle. At the end of Odd Eye, they stand side by side with their fingers under their eyes, doing the "Odd Eye" move our puppy spoiled a few weeks ago... lol..

There was another explanation floating around in addition to the "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" theme in the three songs - Scream - Past/medieval times, e.g. witch hunts - Boca - current day - Odd Eye - Future / Cyberpunk / Utopia (j/k its all a Dystopia) The Tree of Language is constant in all three.. it feels like across hundreds of years there's just so much hate, and its poisoning the tree, and eventually here it looks like it's on life support (or possibly burning in the Gahyeon shots)...

There are a lot of theories regarding Scream/BOCA/Odd Eye, and no definitive story. Pretty sure it’s deliberately left to interpretation. But clearly the tree in all of them is the same. And there is a pretty common focus against hateful and negative speech (which is something that probably is close to home for kpop idols). My understanding is that in Scream the Tree of Language was poisoned by hateful speech (you see it turn dark) and bore dark fruit (which appears in some of the promotional photography for BOCA). I got that from something JiU said IIRC. Then in BOCA there is a war and the girls are water goddesses who come out to fight. They get injured (the golden glittery liquid on Gahyeon in BOCA is “ichor”, the blood of the gods per Greek mythology) and Yoohyeon getting shot with the arrow. However, IIRC from what JiU said, they do prevail. Then in Odd Eye they are, I think, trying to find the Utopia, which is the eden-like state before Scream before people “forgot how to say good things”; but instead the goddesses end up (IMO) corrupted by the mortal ways (represented by the ubiquitous mobile phone) they sought to escape, and the Tree of Language is eventually connected to the Net (the cables that look like roots) and burns down, but before it dies it sends its power to the goddesses (the distorted space Gahyeon and Siyeon reach into). In the end JiU is standing before the empty dais where the tree used to be. Seems kind of depressing, but JiU did say the message is that Utopia isn’t some perfect place you look for, but instead is inside yourself. So the goddesses were wrong in thinking they had to escape this world where people don’t say nice things and go back to some “perfect” place. Instead, the answer is that they had to learn to live in the imperfect place they were, with their own resources, and build their own home. So you can think in a nice way maybe the tree realized it was the reason the goddesses were stuck in the past and so sacrificed itself so they could move forward. (Cue “New Days” anime outro)

Dreamcatcher sometimes release trilogys , and this "dystopia: three of life" is a trilogy as well consisting of Scream, Boca and Odd Eye, so thats why the three is reacuring in these videos , since this comeback is the end of a era we can expect something different next time

The tree is also presented in all the past 2 MV (Scream & Boca). It's called the tree of language. So what they trying to say in the storyline is about people using words to hurt other people (cyberbullying, hate comments). In Scream MV, they saying that words just like a sword, please I don't want to scream (from all of the hate, etc), why you do this, it's not fun. In Boca MV they talk about similar stuff, close boca (mouth) if you only use it to say bad things, thorn like phrase, where is the love, etc. They're talking about world that full of hatred here, so they hope by releasing the MV, people come to realize about all of this and stop doing that, make the world to be a better place, Utopia. At the end, they thought that they've achieved the Utopia. No more hatred in the world, but they're wrong. It's just a lie, just like in the Odd Eye chorus "lie overshadowed by sweetness, look deeper into it". People has stop spreading hatred but it's only to Dreamcatcher and behind it, people still doing that. That's why at the end of Odd Eye MV, its say that Dreamcatcher failed to find the Utopia that they've dreamed of because what Dreamcatcher dreamed of is to be the WHOLE WORLD in UTOPIA, not just "Dreamcatcher's World"

In Scream and Boca the mask represents people who anonymously spreading hate comment (especially in Boca, JiU running from the masked man, running from the haters) In Odd Eye, the mask represents two faced people. My favorite dc reactors! I really appreciate you guys accepting DC as a group who makes any genre work for them and not just lock them in rock or metal. I love rock but I see dreamcatcher as a group who constantly evolves so its natural that they try and branches out. They make this dreamcatcher genre where no matter what specific genre it is, it still sounds like DC. For me, That's the real magic in dreamcatcher. Some might say they are drifting faraway from their rock roots but I say, the dystopia series was made in past>present>future settings therefore it actually makes sense that the music is compatible with the timeline that they are in. (imo: scream is past, boca is present, odd eye is future. A little clue is in gahyeon's monitor😉) also that they still incorporate tidbits of their Original color in their songs. They dont fully leave it, they just mix it with something else. Isn't that what dreamcatcher is good at anyway? They make things HAPPEN no matter how odd it seems to others. I'm glad you guys loved the video, but I think we all knew you would. :D Honan, sick solo, bro! I highly recommend listening to the entire album. The theme of the album is cyberpunk so that's why there are a lot of dark synth in the songs. The EDM and electric elements you mentioned, I feel, are their way of blending the dark synthwave sound commonly associated with cyberpunk and updating it to sound more modern. They said in the live showcase that the Intro reflects and ties the album together and boy does it! It also has the heaviest cyberpunk sound/vibe. Naturally, EVERY song is absolutely fantastic. Like you said, they can do so many different styles of music and it sounds natural. I think this album not only showcases this, but does so most coherently.

mv dream catcher tells the ending story of the previous MV, namely Boca and scream. I think the dream catcher tells about the strength of the trees in their videos related to masks too, because the masks in mv scream and boca are on mv odd eye too, but they are different in shape because they are used as chairs they sit on.

Alright im late but i wanted to point out that in the trilogy that a lot of people commented about, the tree you keep seeing is the tree of language. in the start of scream it says that the light did not come and people forgot how to say good things. throughout the trilogy they're basically searching for utopia, and in odd eye it says they did not find it.

you should check out the song fantasy by pink fantasy!! it has heavy rock elements including some sick drums and guitar and INCREDIBLE vocals. they’re so underrated tho, not many people know who they are. they’re mostly known for having a hidden member that wears a bunny mask lmao
