I love that you reacted to these two songs in the same video because you can see their two sides very well. The "red" side is Power Up, which is more cute and colorful. Bad Boy and Peakaboo is their "velvet" side wich in my opinion is much more interesting. Candela Luna peek a boo isn't velvet tho. its a mixture of both, kinda like russian roulette. Also lmao velvet side is cool and all but the songs are very generic and not really musically unique. Their red side tho, a lot more experimental and unique, like power up and rookie, and even cookie jar. Anyways, both sides are interesting in their own aspects. Don't underestimate the red side tho

Helena I'm all for experimental tracks but sometimes I can't enjoy the red side as much because to me it feels a little awkward, especially when they perform live. Even if their velvet side is not as unique, they pull it off perfectly and usually I prefer pop combined with r&b over bubblegum pop, unless it's VERY experimental like Sophie. It's okay if you disagree because in my original comment I wasn't giving any facts, I specifically stated that it was just my opinion.

Are you fans of rnb? Red velvet b-sides are really solid and their newest full album, the perfect red velvet, has some really stellar songs with a variety of styles including rnb. (Some of my favorites are kingdom come, I just, look, and my second date.) Their newest release, the summer magic mini album, is also pretty good for those who like quirky pop songs. You’re right about the red side and the velvet side// I’d describe their red side as the refreshing side and velvet as the smooth side, but sometimes they mix the two to create subtly creepy bops like peekaboo and Russian roulette hahah. I’d say red velvet is one of the more experimental and artistic groups of this gen bc of the producers/songwriters sm chooses for red velvet’s discography as a whole so if you’re into finding new styles of music, rv is on it 👌 thanks for coming to my ted talk

I know we can be very persistent and annoying asking you to react to all our favorite kpop groups, but its only because we love seeing people listen to the songs for the first time. Here's an interesting fact about Bad Boy since you guys liked it: it was composed and arranged by The Stereotypes, who if you guys don't know are a really popular and award winning production team who have worked on a lot of kpop songs but have also produced a lot of western artist music, the most popular probably being Bruno Mars' "24k Magic" and "That's What I Like."

Fun fact! There is an English version of 'Bad Boy'! Also, I don't know if someone mentioned this but the Korean government funds kpop and kdramas. Like production costs and such in order to promote Korean culture worldwide. As for requests, can I recommend a triple feature? Of Shinee's music videos 'Good Evening', 'I Want You', and 'Our Page'. These three music videos are apart of their album 'The Story of Light'. It's their first album they released after one of their members, Jonghyun, passed away and 'Our Page' is dedicated to him. From what I’ve read, Power Up has more of a meaning in Korea, where there seems to be a generational gap between the older, work all the time, generation and the younger, enjoy life to the fullest, generation. This song is telling the younger generation to get out and enjoy life. And then Bad Boy is just a great song.

If you want more velvet side then I highly recommend One of These Nights (really beautiful music video too) and Automatic. One of their best red side and summer vibe songs is Red Flavour which is even more catchy than Power Up in my opinion haha. I always like Red Velvet's "velvet side" songs, but the "red side" songs are hit or miss. I really like "Red Flavour" and that's a red side song. I don't know who did the Power Up video, but some well known kpop MV production companies are Zanybros, Digipedi, VM Project, Lumpens, DPR (Dream Perfect Regime), and Naive Creative. There are probably more that I'm not thinking of or don't know though! I LOVE the Spotify playlist idea! Oh yeah have you heard any Loona songs yet? They're debuting soon but they've had about 2 years of pre-debut promotions with each member having solos as well as 3 sub-units. I highly recommend you check out Egoist by Olivia Hye and New by Yves (my personal favourite solos) and Sweet Crazy Love by Odd Eye Circle (one of the sub-units). They also just released their first song as a whole group (12 members altogether) Called Favourite and they'll have their official debut as a whole group very soon but we haven't got an official date yet

What is amazing about Red velvet cutesy songs is that they sound cutesy but actually the productions, the layers and the lyrics all have deep meanings behind it. Like "Power Up" The song is about stop taking care only of your work, your studies and go outside to have fun. This actually has alot of meaning for the south koreans like the 3:00 pm reference in the lyrics + The harmonizations, all the different layers behind everytime they sing the fun "banana baba" and the chorus are to dieeee for. Hope you keep the good work. What I also would like to see is a reaction to some japanese rock/metal bands. I hope you could do one for the GazettE. The GazettE is my favorite band (even if I normally dislike metal) and I think you would like their music. The GazettE is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2002 and one of the most popular ones. The members are Ruki (lead vocals), Uruha (lead guitar), Aoi (rhythm guitar), Reita (bass) and Kai (drums). They have released so far 9 studio albums (the last one this year in june) and also a lot of singles. I think you would mostly like their newest releases, so here the latest ones: Falling - Falling is the a-side track for their new album NINTH and if you like the song I highly recommend to listen to the full album because it's a masterpiece Ugly - Ugly is one of my all-time favorite songs and has in my opinion a awesome music video where the 7 deadly sins are represented Dogma - Dogma is the a-side track of their eighth studio album (the most heaviest one) and also has a amazing sound and music video They have more great songs that you should listen to but I think for the beginning you would like the recent ones. Red and Velvet side of them are not only about the concept and music but also their vocal and dance. That's why they look so great in their performance. I feel different when I watch and listen their music. When they perform their Red side, I can feel their cute yet powerful vocal and their dance also need much energy also sp many movements. But when I listen their Velvet side, their vocal is calmer and smooth while their dance doesn't need much energy but the movement quite complicated (except Bad Boy, I could learn it faster than their other velvet dance)

Red Velvet has Two Distinct Side RED (Which is Pop, Vibrant Concept) I would recommend checking "The Red" Album by Red Velvet for you to dig deeper to their Red Side. VELVET (Which is RnB, Sensual Side) I would recommend "The Perfect Velvet" Album for you to dig deeper to their Velvet Side. They are getting praised for being very versatile with their concepts. Red Velvet concept is where they have a two side to show their charm which is Red: poppy, bubbly, bubblegum pop songs Velvet: the more slowy, rnb and mature side Kpop groups are rely heavily on concept since it can shows their charm and people can easily differentiate one group to another. Like how bts, blackpink, big bang etc are known for cool badass songs. While twice, oh my girl etc known for their cute bubblegum pop songs (which is more favorable in south korea). There's also sistar, stellar etc known for their sexy concept, and there's Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, F(x) etc who can do both cute bubbly and badass.

When I hear the "banana" part of Power Up, I hear the guitar riff from Every Breathe You Take by The Police. I haven't seen anyone comment this on videos, I was hoping that metalheads might have picked up on it! :D
