Dr. Brian May was the first to post this video on social media and stated "enjoy!"

It took 5 years for the group to feel comfortable enough with their arrangement to do justice to the Great Freddie Mercury and Queen. Dr Brian May liked it enough to post it on his social media, saying simply...Enjoy! There is very little post production on any of their official videos because they pride themselves on being able to replicate any song they do, live on stage....that is not to say there is none, but they do not use autotune, just reverb and some melodyne. There's a couple of easter eggs in the video....the four shooting stars . One for each member of Queen and a nod to Dr May, who is also an astrophysicist. The sprawl on the couch seen from above is another nod to the album cover of Queen's Sheer Heart Attack. Looking forward to more PTX! Daft Punk would be a good follow-up.

There are live versions of this with Mitch doing the guitar without the megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is being the guitar. No post production. Thanks for reacting to this group. Love to see new reactors enjoying them. Just subbed to hear more PTX. 💕💕

Brian May was so impressed with this performance, he put a link to it on Queen’s social media saying “enjoy!”

What amazes me is the mimicking of a piano in the first part of the song. I don’t believe there are studio tweaks in Mitch’s guitar vocals. The megaphone was just a prop for the video as he only uses a microphone live. His vocal effects are top notch. There is a video out there where he imitates a squeaky dry board marker. Recommend their EDM original, Love Again.

Many many live versions, he does not need nothing added for the guitar solo

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Who would have thought an a cappella version of Bohemian Rhapsody would not only work but actually rock? They don’t go wild with post-production effects when they record and can usually reproduce their songs live on stage, so you’re right, it’s all based on extreme talent and hard work. Once in a while they will release a video of them recording live in studio, and their cover of Gold is a good example of that. Lastly - Man, I miss smoking. I vape now, but it’s just not the same. Loved your reaction, well done! Peace from Ohio … Almost forgot, don’t worry about blurring the video. As long as you can see it to react to, we’re good.

I appreciate you figuring out how to get around the block. It should be possible to alter the video and still leave enough of the image so we viewers can follow what's happening; most Pentatonix reactors use a combination of increasing transparency and overlaying a graphic. But Pentatonix fans are used to all kinds of video alterations and have seen the videos many times. Subbing in hopes of more Pentatonix.

"I'm going to light a cigarette"...song starts...unlit cigarette is just hanging from your mouth!! This is the best cover of this I have ever heard and the fact there are no instruments is unbelievable!! Subscribed for more Pentatonix!! Wait until you see Daft Punk

I noticed that too. I’m gonna smoke…Pentatonix does their thing… jaw drops forgets to light cigarette. That is all Mitch, megaphone was a prop they saw while on set for a very long, cold, problematic night filming. The shooting star and astrology scenes is an ode to a former member of Queen who went into that field. Mitch’s life mirrors Freddie’s in so many way. Similar struggles and you are NOT wrong his voice sounds a lot like Freddie’s on this song. It’s almost scary. But then he also can sound like Micheal Jackson and soooo many other great musicians. I feel very lucky to be living in this time, able to watch/listen to this great group from the early days on. Love your reactions.

Kevin Olusola is amazing with the beatboxing and effects. In their upbeat early original, Sing, he raps "I'm the human 808," and it's so true. Did you notice how Scott Hoying, the big blond guy who sings baritone (and tenor), was on both sides of the "let me go" argument? And how the drums drop out half the time so Kevin can use his tenor voice on that half of argument? They make such good use of all their talents. There probably is a bit of filter on the Mitch Grassi Guitar, but Mitch is a great mimic. He was breaking up the Australian audience with his Aussie accent last week on tour.

You might enjoy listening to The Prayer or Imagination - I think either might make you feel better right now - 😊Also, find their 'live' version of this on stage and you will see that all sounds come from them, even the guitar solo - 😉

I recall you saying something about not liking Scott vocals at the beginning of Sound of Silence, and I get where you were coming from, just now be introduced to the group. If you have not already, Check out Scott Hoying from his first original MARS that came out last year and check out the LIVE version also, I think you will be amazed. P,S, I will smoke a cig along with you on all your reactions.....we all deal with our problems in different ways!

Copyright issues are always a thing with PTX reactions. Many folks who react will put their logo or the word "copyright" over the video as well as making it mostly transparent but to where you can see a little bit of the video still. That might help

I think you would be amazed at what acappella groups are able to do with their voices. These guys are amazing but you also need to listen to Home Free, Naturally 7, Voice Play and pay attention to the stunning way they sing and beatbox.

Pentatonix don't do covers, they enhance or upgrade them. The guy who does the guitar solo is Mitch and once you realise the vocal range he has, you'll understand. They do not do any songs, unless they can do it on stage. If they use instruments, you see it. The thing Mitch used was a prop, as he doesn't use one on stage.

Fans who say you're wrong about effects are the ones that are wrong. Mitch sounds *as good* doing it live, but he doesn't sound the *same*. Kevin verified they added distortion to the studio track for the guitar.

You will find very few people who disagree with you about how close Mitch's voice is to Freddie Mercury's. I've actually heard speculation that Mitch is a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury - he was born eight months after Freddie died. The guitar solos are all Mitch, no special effects. When they do this live they're the same. The couch is moving for two reasons: In the early days, after Pentatonix lost the recording contract they'd won on _The Sing-Off,_ a lot of the videos they posted to KZbin just showed five very young people sitting on a couch, singing their hearts out. The trio would sit on the back of the couch, with Kevin and Avi on the seat. *This* couch is moving so it can take them on a trip down Memory Lane. It's also meant to recall the scene in _Wayne's World_ where Wayne and Garth are in a car listening to a tape of "Bohemian Rhapsody"; the couch has to move to substitute for a car. The starry night sky is meant to honor Brian May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics. The four shooting stars are for the four members of Queen. When the camera pans down from the starry sky to see them lying together on the couch it's meant to recall the cover art from Queen's _Sheer Heart Attack_ album.

I see you have done a bunch of ATEEZ reactions. Pentatonix did a remix of one of their original songs with three members of ATEEZ -- "A Little Space ft ATEEZ" -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX_SoXtndt14p5o They also have a couple of collaborations with J-pop girl group Little Glee Monster. Pentatonix is popular in Japan and do special versions of their albums for Japan release.
