Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 "You and I" is right in the middle of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs starting with their debut. dreamcatcher \:D/ don't worry about reacting to any dreamcatcher material from their channels(happyface, dreamcatcher) because it's all reaction safe. you just need to avoid reacting to live broadcasts from network channels(sbs, mbc, kbs, mnet logos in one of the upper corners). dreamcatcher's music is very unique, not only within kpop but music in general. almost every song in their discography is different because they constantly blend different genres and sub-genres in each song. they are known to use rock instrumentation in many of their songs, but their discography really checks every genre you can think of, from soft ballads to metal but not in the typical arrangements you are use to. 'you and I' is part of their nightmare series and while the visual plot isn't really important, it can be fun to follow along if you are into digging for easter eggs and figuring out the story. 'chase me' is their debut and the first in the nightmare series. all their videos have english captions so just turn them on if you want to check out the lyrics - you just happened to check out the only video on an alternate channel that doesn't have english cc lol :) they also just wrapped up a north american tour and I was able to see two shows in LA and they were awesome \:D/

@@Killdeer25 yep! they probably have the most diverse fan base ever too lol. unlike other 'kpop' groups that target teenagers, dreamcatcher's music is a lot more mature and has more musicality to it - what you might expect from rock/metal. a lot of their fans are musicians and a good portion metalheads believe it or not. they were able to bring in 50/60 year old metalheads to their concert, mixed in with 20/30 year olds of all race, sex, color so it was really cool and interesting. I know a lot of rock/metal fans are somewhat purists, but anyone who has an open mind to music would find dreamcatcher's discography interesting to say the least ;)

Dreamcatcher is definitely very unique within kpop! They were really the first out there not to stick to the standard cute or sexy concepts that female idols are usually confined to. Instead they started with a Victorian horror concept and rock/metal-influenced sound. They’ve always been a dark horse and even with a huge international fan base have had a hard time establishing themselves in Korea because harder music isn’t very popular. Five years in and they JUST got their first win with their new title track Maison. Loved your insights on their voices! Dreamcatcher has a very unique blend and all their voices are very distinct. Especially JiU with her very delicate, airy voice, Handong’s much more dark and covered tone, and Dami’s deep rap voice (she has actually covered G-Dragon; they did a performance of Bang Bang Bang). Definitely would like to see you do more Dreamcatcher!!! You and I is one of my top 5 title tracks from them along with What, Good Night, Odd Eye, and BEcause. Other people have talked about the storyline orders, so I’ll just focus on music stuff. Good Night is one of their hardest-hitting title tracks-it was the second one and followed their debut, so they went a little darker. What is very interesting because it’s one of the very few that weren’t done by producers LEEZ and Ollounder, and I think it’s very underrated. Odd Eye and the whole Dystopia trilogy took on a more urban and EDM-influenced sound, but they still go HARD with those songs and choreo. And BEcause is a bit different-it was a summer track, so the sound is a lot lighter, but in true Dreamcatcher fashion they took a very unconventional approach by creating a creepy-cute song inspired by the horror movie Us. They are definitely a group worth following. Some of the most unique and talented women in the game, which I’m sure you’ll come to realize. And they’ve inspired many other girl groups to try darker concepts, like PIXY and PinkFantasy! Another group though that I’d really recommend you check out though is Rolling Quartz, which is a proper all-female Korean rock band.

That's actually interesting, I'm my very short experience it almost feels like to me that this would be the easiest to take off out of most bands, but I guess over in Korea they do prefer more R&B and Pop elements in their music whereas I have been in the rock, metal and punk scene since about 1996

For the info, DC is a 7 member group which have metal/rock influence in many of their songs (all of their title track) and is active since Friday the 13th 🐈‍⬛ of January 2017. For their MVs, there are storyline and "You & I" is the 4th MV in the "Nightmare" series. The fandom is named inSomnia (not insomniac, and it means "in dream"). DC is also spoiling us the fans with lots of contents including special clips for their B-sides, vlogs, etc... and covers: they covered BIGBANG songs for example and EXO as well (a dance cover of Kpop male group songs, and a member, Siyeon, had a rock version of "Overdose" during a music survival show). And yes be careful of TV shows or other Live performance (I think especially with groups from the big3: SM, JYP and YG). Most content on DC official channels ("Happyface Entertainment" and "Dreamcatcher Official", by the way, you reacted to "You & I" on 1theK which is fine but doesn't have the subtitles. There is one version on "Happyface Entertainment" with subs.) Hope you'll check more of their videos. 🥰

@@Killdeer25 For a bit of context, Rick was almost taboo in Korea for a while, which is why Dreamcatcher are a bit of mavericks. It all started in 2005 when two members of a punk band decided it was a great idea to drop their trousers and wave the old sausages around on live TV in a very very conservative country. The show was canceled, the band members jailed, and anything connected to rock labeled indecent. On the other hand, there was once a 5-member girl group called Minx. They were cute, sounded good, but we’re from a small company and had serious competition when they debuted in 2014. They disbanded, but their company decided they believed in them so much that they decided to re-debut them, but as a dark-themed rock-inspired group. As you can see, this was a ballsy move. They were very niche in the beginning, attracting much more the international fans than domestic; but lately they started to get known and respected in Korea as well. Partly it was their talent, but partly also their adaptation: they mellowed out in the Korean songs, and reserved the most metal songs for the Japanese market, whose j-rock sound they take heavy inspiration from. These days rock is coming back to Korea, with many more groups daring to experiment with it; but very often you will hear not “this song sounds like rock”, but “this song sounds like Dreamcatcher”.

Love to see new people enter the world of Insomnia. Love this reaction and would also love to see you deep dive into the rest of their music, They put out a lot of content, not just their title tracks. Of note, their selfmade music videos (they did a few of these during the pandemic because they were very bored) including Sahara and Break The Wall. They've also done a couple of video game OSTs that have a very fantasy visual edge to them that you might like. Also, if you want to get more into female fronted K-rock, try out Rolling Quartz, an actual band that plays all their instruments.

You have just opened yourself up for a huge treat. At first blush, you get this heavy music, intense choreo, and intimidating stage presence. And that _is_ pretty well ubiquitous among their title tracks. But the second you stray outside of that realm, you start to realise how talented, versatile, grounded, and above all, _positive_ the really are. For a long time, rock has not really had a good reputation in Korea, and slowly but surely, Dreamcatcher have played a not-insignificant role in bringing it back to the mainstream. When they first debuted at the beginning of 2017, this dark concept with J-rock influences was... kind of a huge risk. But after a previous project kinda melted into obscurity because they were _too much_ like everything else, this 180 was exactly what they needed. It's been a hard slog; the Korean music industry is... kinda stuck in its ways, and wasn't really ready to accept what they brought to the table. But they've been _damned_ persistent, and over the last five years, they've honed their craft, and gradually chipped away, first at the _international_ market, which was far more welcoming, then gradually at home... That hard work and positivity really shines through, and has a way of earning them a _ton_ of friends and respect; it's pretty much unheard of to encounter _anyone_ who's met Dreamcatcher and has anything less than gushing praise for them. Many of their peers will gladly raise them as good examples, a lot of the younger groups coming up will have members proudly proclaiming that they look up to DC. And now we have several new acts starting to incorporate rock into their own signature styles, which _inevitably_ draws comparisons to Dreamcatcher... because they're basically the gold standard now. Regarding the copyright strike, as Ivy mentions below, the thing you need to look out for is not the group themselves (anything on DC's own channel is safe to react to; in fact they absolutely _encourage_ it), but usually the host of the live event. So a live music show performance, for instance, will probably be on the channel of a TV network (Mnet, KBS, SBS etc), and _they're_ the ones that tend to get strike-happy.

Yes! Dreamcatcher! One of my favorite girl groups in Kpop currently They were quite the breath of fresh air when they debut, or re-debut lol. Interestingly, they’re more popular overseas than domestically, which makes sense since rock isn’t really popular in Korea Adding onto Dreamcatcher’s rock-based sound, their b-sides are also really solid. I’d argue their b-sides are stronger than their singles. I think another girl group that might interest you is GFriend. Since some dreamcatcher songs reminds people of anime songs, GFriend also has that sound, but with a brighter concept (power innocence) Unfortunately the disbanded. But, they leave behind a great discography. My favorite singles I recommend is Rough and Navillera for future reactions/listens

the earliest version of K-Pop back in the early 90's have more of Rock & Metal sound, coz the founder of K-Pop actually a Metalhead...in 2017, Dreamcatcher; the Dark Angels of K-Pop was born, they known for their Rock /Metal + EDM fusion sound...and sometime called the 'Dreamcatcher Genre'.

@@Killdeer25 yes...and that guy name is Seotaiji...the member of the first K-Pop group called 'Seotaiji & Boys' back in the early 90s, only back then they don't have that 'Idol concept' like most of today's K-Pop group...Seotaiji & Boys create a boy group with unique music sound...a combination of Pop, Rock, Rap, Metal, Ballad & many more genre...a foundation of what we know today as 'K-Pop'...for me, Dreamcatcher's diverse discography have that 'Seotaiji & Boys' spirit...

FYI one of their member, is the founder of YG Entertainment; the home of Blackpink & Big Bang...while Seotaiji, I believe has return to his Metal & Rock root & open his own company...but sadly, nowaday local Korean Metal & Rock artist not that well received like they used to...new generation of Korean Rock & Metal artist today more into underground scene than mainstream...I think, Dreamcatcher slowly paved the way for other newer K-Pop artist to make Rock & Metal great again in South Korea music scene...one of the K-Pop band you should check out is 'Rolling Quartz'...they also covered one of Dreamcatcher's song called 'Good Night'...

Yess finally Dreamcatcher reaction, please react to Dreamcatcher - Piri and Dreamcatcher - Scream for next Dreamcatcher reaction They're one of my first groups that got me into Kpop, before I got into Kpop I'm actually a fan of Japanese Rock and pop (well still until now tho), and I think Dreamcatcher's songs give me similar feelings with some J-rock bands, so maybe that's why they're being one of my first go in Kpop Anyway abt Japanese music, I recently really into this soloist, his name is Yuuri, maybe if you want to try Japanese pop song you can react to him too, I really want to recommend you to Yuuri - Betelgeuse, you can react to lyrics video or maybe react to his performance on 'The First Take' channel, and also this performance of him singing duet with other Japanese singer Tani Yuuki, the video's tittle is in Japanese so maybe it will be confusing for you to find, I'll just put the link for that one here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6SboXaljNaehrc

Yeah, the live performance probably got blocked because it was from a music show, year end award show, or paid concert footage. Kpop companies are usually very cool about reactions, but you always got to watch out for third parties and make sure you’re not reacting to paid content.
