This week in Metal Mass Drew and Jake finally get around to discovering Japanese Power Metal band, Lovebites! The community comments consistently recommended Holy War. It's safe to say that Holy War is a playlist worthy song and we're excited to dive into Lovebites' entire discography now that we have had a taste of true awesomeness! A truly good music discovery indeed.

Welcome to Lovebites, they never disappoint. You guys should also check out another all female Japanese band called NEMOPHILA, I recommend 'Dissension', 'Oiran', 'Raitei' and 'Sorai'. No country is keeping the flame of rock burning quite so brightly as Japan. The number of great bands is staggering, the level of virtuoso musicianship is ridiculously high and the number of kick-ass and bad-ass female rock musicians and all female and women-fronted hard rock and metal bands is unrivalled anywhere else in the world.

yes all songs are in english - vocalist asami lived in the states for a couple of years after high school and learned the language well. and the 2 guitarists ? midori on the left and miyako on the right are the best team out there right now and bassist miho and the drum machine known as haruna came from the early girl's metal band DESTROSE that spawned at least half a dozen more amazing girl groups. imo nobody can touch these ladies at the moment. insane instrumental skills and operatic vocals that give me chills. and for future reference we [the wolfpack] have no problem with pauses to comment but please don't skip parts. you will not get blocked.

Swan Song with the revolutionary Etude (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGKlmqioiM2keK8) from Zepp Divercity Show, Miyako the Black Haired guitarist is not only a world-class shredder but a classical concert pianist. She didn't actually pick up a guitar until she was nearly 20. She also composes the majority of Lovebites music, she is widely considered a Virtuoso. If you want to hear some of their heavier more chromatic music they also do quite a few thrash songs, not just power metal. Break the Wall is like Slayer and Eric Clapton had a baby. If you want their true Power metal stuff, Rising, Above the Black sea, below the red sky, Shadowmaker are phenomenal. They have to classic fun metal stuff too like Raise Some Hell, Scream for Me. I grew up a metalhead in the 80's these ladies play harder and faster than any of them except maybe earlier Metallica.

Lovebites bassist Miho (Founder) and Drummer Haruna (Co Founder) recruited Guitarist Midori and Guitarist/Pianist Miyako then they got a demo of R&B singer Asami. They wanted to do stuff like the metal of the 80's Maiden, Priest, and Metallica.

You will not be disappointed with any of Lovebites material. They incorporate many classic metal bands style into their songs but make them their own. I guess the editing of the video is to get around copyright? Unfortunately, many Japanese Bands music videos are an issue for blocks. To mix an anime and Lovebites, have a look at the music video for Winds Of Transylvania, Vlad Love version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo The Lovebites lady's were asked to write this song by the anime artist, who is the son of a famous anime producer. Apologies, I am not versed with anime but someone else may have more detail.

The piano is used to great effect in Swan Song and its intro (Chopin's Revolutionary Etude), but make sure you choose the correct link that actually includes the intro and don't just do a search for Swan Song, because there's only one link that includes the intro, and it's essential for the full effect of the piece. This song is great - but it's by far the least impressive of their songs - still not sure why everyone picks this one first. They've since gotten twice as fast and can out-Slayer Slayer. Anyway - to be truly impressed: check out from their Zepp DiverCity Tokyo show any of these songs: Thunder Vengeance, Raise Some Hell, Hammer of Wrath, and *especially* Swan Song.

for me, *Holy War* are actually good for the first reaction.. this song are not too heavy especially for non-metalhead to listen, and I think the lyrics are amazing if the reactor looking for it on google.. Also, this performance will give a mind set to the reactor if Lovebites are not always Power Metal like the reactor think, and it show them if this band also had the Voice Belting, Breakdown section, Perfect Guitar solo and harmonies..

@@ChadTheDragonLord for an American/Canadian audience? Thunder Vengeance (live from Zepp DiverCity), easily. I'm no metalhead and it absolutely blew me away: in one fell swoop it made Metallica, Slayer, and Annihilator all look like a bunch of has-been weaklings. If not that, then Winds of Transylvania or When Destinies Align are both great starting points, as their solo sections just build relentlessly to crushing climaxes. Swan Song is a great follow-up. For European audiences, I guess I'd probably start with Swan Song or Rising first, then follow up with the harder stuff (Hammer of Wrath, Thunder Vengeance, etc). But "Holy War" just sounds a little too generic overall to American ears (especially the very stock "Japanese Sound" dual guitar opening and closing lines), and is now quite dated as their skills have improved dramatically since that song was initially recorded.

Into Power Metal but I haven't heard of Lovebites. Their music sounds pretty good but coming down here into the comments and seeing their fans be jerks to these dudes that had nothing but good things to say about them is a real turn off. Hard pass on toxic fandoms. Not the band for me.

I had to thumb down the reaction, the edit to cut the song plus not having your headphones on correctly, you 1, misrepresent what Lovebites is and 2, don't hear the full song yourselves. I will check another video if you are always like that and if yes, I will have to pass on your channel and go toward 1 that showcase songs like they are meant to be. Pauses are very ok but a 30-45 seconds cut is not.

Seriously, why are Lovebites fans so awful? I'm sure the ladies in the band would be ashamed to count rude people like you amongst their fans. These guys have just discovered this band and like the music. They literally had nothing bad to say about the band, but now they have to see people like you criticize the way they praised them. The band is good but the toxic fandom is a BIG no for me. I would advise others to steer clear as well. The last thing we need in this world is more negativity especially when this video is nothing but positivity.

@@metalelitistdeletist5896 Sorry, it has nothing to do with Lovebites but the cuts and edit to the song. If I watch a reaction to a new band and I hear that, it is not appealing at all. I found many artists because of reactors like Ivana Wong from Hong Kong, Samyra from Germany. If those had been edited in such a way, I may not have went and looked for more and then purchased their albums. P.S. If you find what I said to be toxic, I got bad news for you, don't read comments, mine was criticism on some points and suggestion to respect the artists whoever they are.
