Fun video with quite a few games that I didn't know about or forgot that they existed. The DS really deserves more love and recognition. Orcs and Elves and The Dark Spire looked amazing. If you're interested in similar games I can recommend the Etrian Odyssey series as well. Those are Japanese style dungeon crawlers wherein you draw your own map with the stylus. EO 1 and 2 even had enhanced remakes for the 3DS, but EO 3 is exclusive to the DS. As for other great games on the system that I can wholeheartedly recommend there are: Advance Wars: Dual Strike Advance Wars: Dark Conflict Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Shin Monshou no Nazo (remakes of FE 1 and 3 on the DS, FE 2 was remade for the 3DS)

The "coming soon" sleeve looks like it's a promotional display sleeve. Shops get sent loads of these display sleeves to advertise upcoming games (and also for new games so that sealed copies don't have to be opened to create a shop display). The sleeves are sent out loose and the shop puts them into boxes themselves. Shops that sell second-hand games sometimes use these sleeves to replace damaged or missing sleeves for their second-hand games. The actual game cartridge will be the same as any other copy out there, it was never supposed to be paired with that promotional sleeve.

Regarding your Ys DS case, my suspicion is that the game is probably the regular game from when it was released, but the case (especially since you got it second hand) is probably one of those cases at like a Gamestop that they show off on the shelves for preorders. I’m not sure if your into old Japan exclusive games. But one of my all time most nostalgic games for me is is a game called Sangokushi Taisen. It’s a game where u collect physical cards, play them on a machine and using the cards you would control virtual battalions in a battlefield. It was honestly the coolest thing to me. Turns out they made a few ds games (all in Japanese only) and it’s brought back so many memories although I don’t speak Japanese so it’s very difficult to play. I was wondering if you’ve heard of them or could take a look into them. They’re seriously great games. Honestly in my opinion it may be the most under appreciated game of all time and if the game was ever introduced to American markets I’m positive it would be a major title today. Sadly there is almost no information about the game today

Wouldn't Castlevania Symphony of the night be the first Castlevania with English voice over?

I meant to say "the first *handheld version* Castlevania to have English voice-overs". DOH!

I have quite a few DS games (1,259 to be exact) but I must admit that most of the ones you showed here are not in my collection. Your title list is impressive. 👍👍👍

Thanks for making this video, I just recently got into the DS and 3DS and have been looking for some games to get for the DS and this video had a lot of games that I'll certainly be looking into.

I always was blown away by the touch screen. Really the first tablet-tech brought to the masses, simply brilliant

Nice collection with lots of hidden gems! Speaking of hidden gems, one game that blew me away back then because its mechanics and story were so unique was Infinite Space. I don't see it mentioned at all in compilations which leads me to believe it's probably not that well known but it's definitely worth checking out. Especially if you like the idea of exploring space in your own star ship.

The DS was such an amazing handheld. Powerhouse games all through its lifecycle. My favorite game for it was Pokemon Heart Gold. Other incredible games were the Professor Layton games, Pokemon Black/White 1 and 2, Mario Kart DS, Rhythm Heaven, Bowser's Inside Story, Picross 3d, Ghost Trick, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

Thanks for making videos like this. I only started getting back into video games a year or so ago after stopping back in 1996. Kinda missed out on a lot. I recently started getting into the gameboy advance with the Zelda game that was made by Capcom (the name eludes me at the moment) and Castlevania Circle of the Moon. Been debating on whether or not to get a DS as the only games I knew of were the Castlevania games but seeing what else there is for it is very helpful.
