Master System games are essentially Game Gear games... so pretty much all of the Game Gear games ARE on the Master System... Of course there are exceptions but yeah, pretty much if you think back to earlier Gamegear games, they were on the Master System. If you want pointers, you should check Sega Lord X's posts on KZbin.

Master System was huge in Brazil, so nostalgia is great here :) Some of my favorites were Astro Warrior, Alex Kid in Miracle World, Zillion, Fantasy Zone II and Psycho Fox. There are far more great games but a lot of them were also released in Mega Drive/Genesis.

Oh man, that Steambot Chronicles box he made you. I'm so jealous. I loved that game. The game had every single kind of gameplay you could think of, or wanted to do. Transport tycoon? Got it. Dungeon crawler rpg? Got it. Arena fighter? Got it. Guitar hero gameplay, but with waaay more instrument choices? Got it. Pool hustler? Got it. This game had everything. One of my favorite things about it was you could be the bad guy. It had a group of bad guys in the the game similar to Team Rocket from Pokémon, and you could join up with them. It totally changes the second half of the game. Completely different story and missions. Such a good game. Sucks about the sequel being cancelled.

I found an SMS with two controllers, the gun and the games that were built in were Hang On and Safari Hunt, for $15 at a thrift. One of my better thrift pickups. I've since gotten about a half dozen cartridge games (some in box) since then. It's definitely a great system and offers something different from NES.

So on the topic of PS1, Greatest Hits, the discs are a silver color instead of the original (Final Fantasy games are white in black label games), and the manuals are in black and white with all GH games. I think that's why collectors prefer the original black labels. :) Keep it up guys. I love when you two collaborate.

REGGIE: Don't get rid of the Master System! Here are some games that will change your mind about the system: 1. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap: This game is worth the price of admission alone. One of the best 8-bit games ever made, in my opinion. 2. Wonder Boy in Monster Land: The predecessor to Wonder Boy III 3. Choplifter: There's never really been a game like it since -- fun gameplay, impressive 2D scrolling There are many other great games on the system, but those are just the ones I own. I would also recommend checking out Pro Wrestling (great fun with two players), Rampage (leagues better than the NES port), and Bomber Raid (a great vertical shooter).

On a side note, I hate to be a downer but based on the label I'm pretty sure that your copy of Doom II for the GBA is a bootleg.

I love these guys. They have great chemistry and seem like genuinely magnetic guys. Couple blokes I’d go to a pub with. Just seems odd how Reggie didn’t know what Rogue-lite or “like” was.
