Some advise... make sure you run the water in the basement shower every month or so (a few seconds will do). It will help keep the P-Trap filled with water, which will stop sewer gases from entering your home. You should also do this for any sink you don't use very often.

Just ordered 80+boxes because of this video! I was going to go the big plastic case route but I love the size of the mini cases and how the art is true to the original box! Plus it is way cheaper when you order in bulk! Can't wait to get them, and will definitely be getting more as my collection grows!

7:56 if you didn't say anything, I would have just assumed they were in their original box, especially without any sense of scaling. THOUGH those boxes were terrible. I liked the clamshell Sega box then Sonic 3 came out in that terrible paper box. Then we got an N64 and all of those boxes IMMEDIATELY got destroyed. Not those plastic clamshells. Still think at my mother's house I still have a few of them. I think my brother took Quackshot and Sonic 1 and 2 with him when he moved out. I was onto more questionable ways to play those games on my PSP at the time.

I used to buy physical games and sell them after being done. I went full digital with PS4, but then, I came across game preservation arguments and Sony started working on closing PSP, PS Vita and PS3 PSN stores. I reached the conclusion that the industry doesn't care and are in fact actively destroying any chance of game preservation. The gamers have to be the ones to maintain that history. I also had the urge to go back to some older games and the idea of playing them at a moment's notice was appealing. I started a small collection dedicate to Sony consoles and a handful of games that I either played or wish to play. Even if you don't collect, I advise to at least maintain the physical game and/or console in top conditions and sell it when done with it.

However obviously my wife doesn't want to sleep in a game room but I plan on building an insulated out building to have a proper setup and bring lots of my collection out of storage. I'm very envious of that much space! And I'm always intrigued to see what shelving and storage solutions other collectors and gamers use! For sure big box PC takes up the most space, with the different sized boxes needing varying shelf sizes. And I also find loose cartridges, especially Game Boy awkward to store, since they get muddled up easily, and don't have end labels! (Also PAL SNES games don't have end labels either!)

Great vid mate. Love the thought into designating different zones. Having that much space is such a great luxury to have. My only improvements would be to hang your flat screen against the brick wall and to get better fitting shelves for your games. The depth of the bookcase style ones you have are wasted space. It would open up the room even more to have custom shelves with less depth and height to the ceiling

This is cool! As an property insurance adjuster, make sure you have absolutely full coverage on any water getting into your basement. It doesn’t take much to ruin all of that! From sewage backup, to sump pump failure, to flood insurance--even if you’re not in a flood plain--get it. And, itemize you’re entire basement with a photograph of each item, at least the expensive stuff. Back up and store somewhere safe, even possibly giving to your agent. I know how these insurance companies work. They may be a good neighbor today, but turn around and screw you when you need help.
