It's nice how your thoughts are expressed through texts instead of pausing the songs at crucial moments... You take in the song in it's entirety.. keep up the good work.. as a suggestion I'd say react to "the four horsemen" by Metallica.. very early very raw but very rhythmic stuff from them.. . easily one of their greatest songs ever.... looking forward to seeinf your mind blown...Cheers luv..

The greatest song about the story of Passover....Ever!!! 1.6 Million people....and this is only 3rd on the all time list of crowds at an open air concert. #1 is Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a crowd of 3.5 Million in 1994. #2 was Jean Michel Jarre in 1997 also in Russia, like that Metallica show, with 3.5 Million.
@My-Name-Isnt-Important6 жыл бұрын
The idea for the song came from seeing the film the Ten Commandments, and the line said by Yule Brenner, 'so let it be written, so let it be done.' Then they expanded from there and made the song about the angel of death and the Passover, but made sure to keep the line from the film.

Actually it was still the Soviet Union but trying to keep their citizens from revolting, their government used this as a distraction. I was lucky enough to be in Berlin at this time and Metallica's next stop. It was Monsters of Rock co headlined with AC/DC my other favorite band. You should watch Battery live in Seattle '89 to hear some thrash metal Metallica started with few other bands. Plus as old school fan please check Anesthesia Pulling Teeth with Metallica's original bassist Cliff Burton. Their bus rolled and he was crushed while on tour RIP. He showed Kirk and James how to harmonize to create The Metallica sound and songs

One of my all time favorite Metallica songs. The lyrics to this are some of my absolute favorite from Metallica. I also recommend One, Call of Ktulu or Outlaw Torn off Metallica S and M live. The addition of an orchestra is such an insane fit. The music is powerful. The live album they did in Mexico City in 1993 has some amazing stuff as well. That one, Live After Death from Iron Maiden and The Wall live in Berlin were my go to live CDs in high school.

An absolutely sick scene to behold!! Cannot imagine what this must've felt like for James and the band to stand before this mass of packed, pulsing humanity! Unfortunately, the Red Army misinterpreted some of the reactions of kids "moshing" and carrying on and they beat the holy hell out of dozens of poor unsuspecting souls. I think even to the point of killing a few. Unbelievable scene. ETA: and yes, yours is the proper way to "watch" a Metallica live concert video. James is a monster!!
@sharissequeenbee58576 жыл бұрын
That’s unfortunate that people got killed, I didn’t know that. I guess the authorities didn’t realize it’s part of concerts to mosh 🙁
@jbartyparty73986 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm not sure exactly how many deaths resulted directly from the "discipline" that was levied by the Red Army security, but there were 11,000 soldiers there to "police" things and they had a damn helicopter swooshing down towards the crowd when they saw something particularly distasteful...James says they would throw things down at the crowd. Now many of the deaths may have been the result of stampeding and the sheer force of the crowd pushing forward into barricades etc. I'm having a hard time finding exact numbers but one publication has it as high as 53 deaths. Yikes!!

I was twenty-five in 1991 and would've traded a year off the end of my life to have been at that one. I have no clue how to estimate how many people were there to see Metallica, but total numbers for this particular Monsters of Rock show was a little over three million fans (eat, drink, fart, sh*t, pi*s where you stood... and also have sex lol (I understand that it happened...a lot. But, I do want to say that I'm truly sorry for you younger people not to be able to go to an arena show, a stadium show, or one they bulldozed a field that could hold the huge show stages plus a few hundred thousand fans (lmao, saying that reminds me of joke Jim Brewer does talking about a Slayer show and he got kinda unnerved when the Slayer fans showed up...he said that he heard a low roar behind him and it kept getting louder and louder. So, when he turned to look, there was this moving blob that he said his brain couldn't register. They didn't bother with aisles, just climbed all over everything...it was those creepy orc armies from the Lord of the Rings movies... it's sooo, sooo funny how Bruer does that skit... it's probably as close to the "real thing" as you could get.
