Why is everyone so down on cover bands. This is talent and hard work. Nobody rips symphonies as Mozart cover bands. A lot of the music we consider original was actually written by someone else. A lot rock standards were originally blues songs composed decades earlier.

@@kylester0055 Because there is physically no way in this mordern world that a band that styles itself after metallica in so many ways and plays setlist composed entirely of their music would be allowed to play on world stages without the main bands approval, simple as that. Besides, they are known as a tribute band which is different than a cover band in that they play only one bands music and give tribute to the original band, first and foremost, respect, but probably even some royalties.

Even big bands have to ask permission of the original artist before recording or shooting a version of another artists song for an album or DVD.
