You can tell Flawd ( don't know his real name sorry ) knows about music. Like for real, I've been subscribed for God knows how long, and this guy has made me appreciate and observe things in music I would never had. His facial expressions alone, following and watching every God damn reaction of his, his breakdowns and his commentary, the rhyme schemes, the messages. All of it. I know it may sound stupid, but watching him is like been given a key to a door of extra levels of understanding and dissecting music. Sincerely thank you for that. Have a good one, greetings from Greece.

This was James' way of working out his anger and despair . Someone had stolen a bunch of their gear right when they were going on their first big tour supporting Ozzy . In that gear was an amp James' mother had given him before her battle with cancer .

I'm sure a lot of people might know this already, but when this song came out in '84, many were concerned that this song would provoke more suicide. Apparently, the opposite happened. This song actually saved many lives. Haven't heard this one in a while. Thanks guys!

MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME LONG LIVE METALLICA
@sumonjamal1653Ай бұрын
I think Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' in 1971 was the epic masterpiece that most rock bands wanted to emulate - a song that started w/ acoustic guitars but progressed into heavier beats and guitar riffs w/ a blazing lead solo... Lynyrd Skynyrd had 'Freebird' in 1973... Deep Purple recorded 'Child in time' in 1970 - all iconic tracks. Judas Priest recorded a song w/ a similar structure in 1978 - 'Beyond the realms of death'... Iron Maiden wrote and recorded the song 'Remember tomorrow' in 1980... and we know that Metallica were huge fans of Judas Priest & Iron Maiden starting out. James Hetfield recalled the band jamming on the idea of 'Fade to black' and he wrote the acoustic part back in 1984 because he wanted to contrast the thrash metal songs on the album 'Ride the Lightning'... w/ a track that was a bit mellow and heavy w/ emotion... Hetfield said he first realized that the song was special when he went to visit a then-girlfriend at her home and her sister was blasting 'Fade to black' on her stereo, over and over again.

The amp. was a big personal loss for James, but the band lost all of their equipment to theft (except for their guitars, I think) it wasn't just James's amp. The band thought they might be done, so James was very depressed at the time. This was their second record, so they didn't have a ton of money back then, and they weren't sure what they were going to do.

Yeh. But I always say that “that’s from a vantage point of someone like you or I who have heard the song a million times “. … when listening to a song for the first time, and it’s in a live format with crowd noise and jumbled sounds in the background, it’s harder for them to truly appreciate the little nuances that you and I can easily pick out in a live performance, but new listeners may not have their ears trained to hear those little things. Thus, I always recommend new listeners/reactors to listen to the studio version first and get to know the music the same way that (let’s face it) you and I did before transitioning to live performances.
