When that opening riff kicks in at 0:36, it’s so huge and dark and gnarly. Love it

1:51 is that the chord they used in orion? forgive me if I'm wrong
@TheMathMog938 жыл бұрын
Yes it is, just in a different key. It's a minor third dyad (chord consisting of two notes. A powerchord is also a dyad). Minor third and Mayor third dyads can be very powerful in metal if used in a proper way :)
@badumtss30678 жыл бұрын
:50 reminded me a lot of the begining riff in 'The Eye Of The Beholder'
@robb.46137 жыл бұрын
I wish it was used more in metal it sounds so fucking brutal!
@TheMathMog937 жыл бұрын
Indeed. A lot of guitar players in metal, don't try to move out of the comfort zone of only playing power-chords! There is a lot of beautiful dissonance in those chords, and a lot of others too!
@robb.46137 жыл бұрын
yeah If I ever do my own music, I'll definately include this one it'so badass oh my god I remember learning Orion (it's when I first heard it) and I played the first riff for like half an hour this is how I loved that chord

Hey TheMathMog93! I love the new album; Here Comes Revenge, Spit Out The Bone, Halo On Fire, Moth Into Flame and Dream No More are my favourite songs but I like all songs but Confusion (my absolute favorite is Moth Into Flame because of Its complexity and all the parts being amazing). What is your top 5/10?
@TheMathMog938 жыл бұрын
My top 5 would probably be. 1: Spit Out The Bone 2: Here Comes Revenge 3: Dream No More 4: Moth Into Flame 5: Lords Of Summer (Though not a main-song on the disc)
@RightIn46and28 жыл бұрын
TheMathMog93 ah yes the new version of lords of summer is really good, I always forget the song when I think of the album since it isn't on the main discs, but whenever I do remember it I see it as part of the album and its definetily on the better half of the songs

Anyone know how to get that siren-like noise in the intro? It's been itching at me for days and I just don't quite know how to do it.
@TheMathMog937 жыл бұрын
It kinda sounds like kirk playing two notes, like D and E on the two highest strings (15th on B and 12th on E) and then pulling up on the whammy bar. Haven't tried to replicate it, but that is my best guess.

great job! can you put out a tutorial id really like to learn this!!????
@TheMathMog937 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Not planning to do so, as that would be very time consuming. Time I don't got a lot of unfortunately :P But there is a few tabs up on sites like ultimate-guitar. You can use those as reference, and then maybe just slow this video down? It was filmed at 50 fps, so even setting the speed to 0.5x, it will still run at 25 fps, giving room to see how the riffs go :)
@milenpenev13627 жыл бұрын
Nice cover, with this tone the song sounds slightly heavier.
@MattyPS8 жыл бұрын
\m/ Very good as always! But how is this rough-edged? haha I only noticed 3 little "mistakes" ^^. But I must say that I also have a hard time publishing something which is not as good as it could/should be! Anyway, many cool riffs, when I listened to the record it's one of the tracks I didn't listen to much, but it looks like a lot of fun to play! And good job with the volume knob! I'm going to say it again but you have a great sound now, and with your powerful attack the huge palmuting sounds amazing.
@TheMathMog938 жыл бұрын
Well thanks mate! :D It might just be because I ended up recording it like 20 times, that I have become sooo aware of the minor mistakes that I make, that normal people might not see. The problem with wanting to record a song straight after learning it, while also being way over-tired. The worst part was, that one time I actually made it all the way through without any mistakes, but 30 seconds before the end, the song was somehow cut off, and I didn't play with a metronome, so I was screwed! But definitely. I won't publish anything that I am not at least partly satisfied with myself. To me this song just have a great atmosphere. The music video helped emphasize that mood. And thanks, that was actually a struggle too, as the knob needed millimeter precision, for the tone I wanted. A few times I would accidentally have turned it all the way down. That might be the only flaw with this amp, is that its clean tone isn't thaaat good, hence why I use the volume knob to get a semi-clean one :) Oh and I see you just uploaded a video too! :D haha need to give that a listen
@MattyPS8 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I know that all too well (as I just mentionned in my reply on my video), you want it to be perfect and then you start becoming some kind of maniac haha. And yes, doing mistakes at the very end is also a plague! :) I'll maybe try to learn this one, also you should know that I watched your cover of "Spit Out The Bone" lots of time to learn it as accurately as possible :D.
@TheMathMog938 жыл бұрын
Exactly with the maniac part.. Ends up spending too much time, on those flaws :P The riffs themselves are not that hard. The structure of the song, is the only thing that takes a bit to get used to, so you definitely should! Hehe, I won't stand responsible for any mistakes then haha :D
@MattyPS8 жыл бұрын
Right, there are many subtles variations that are annoying to remember :P But I'll get it!

Amazing cover, man! Could you share tabs for this song please? :)
@TheMathMog938 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! I don't have any tabs for it. I learned it all by ear, and making tabs is quite timeconsuming, especially since I haven't made any in a long time. You can try slowing the video down to 0.5 though. It's filmed in 50 fps, so it should still be watchable, and an easier way to learn it :)

Maybe. It won't happen one of these days though, as tuning this guitar from standard to what sounds like D-standard, won't leave the strings tight enough, while it also being a hazzle. But maybe the next time I restring my Ibanez! It is indeed one of my favorite tracks from the record!
