11 mins shouldn't have worked. You know how hard it is to make a song more than 6 mins long stay engaging, much less 11? Hell, there's not that many change ups in the song either. It's a constant tempo. Yet somehow, Metallica finds a way to make it work and stick the landing. I didn't think they had it in them this late in the game to write songs like this one, but boy I'm glad I was wrong about that.

That seems to be the general consensus. The Black Sabbath, Down vibes Fixxxed up with My friend of Misery and Outlaw Torn take you on a journey that seems shorter than the shorter songs on the album itself. It sounds at ease with itself, allowing the huge monolith riff to spread out and out. I only wish that the Hi Hat wasnt obstructing the otherwise well welcomed chilled out woozy interlude. It absolutely does not belong there! But thats only a minor thing. Its a huge track that deserves the good praise.

I think Rob helping encourage them to return to their roots from Death Magnetic forward, I remember hearing that he's responsible for Metallica playing songs live that they haven't played in years like "Call Of Cthulu". It's pretty awesome that 41 years into their careers, the guys are still delivering absolutely perfect, grand-slam masterpieces. IMO, this is an absolutely amazing song and on the level of stuff like Fade, Puppets, Unforgiven, Outlaw etc. This is also possibly James' greatest in-studio vocal performance ever. His singing during that breakdown before the harmonies is so beautifully soulful and bluesy, absolutely gorgeous stuff. The riffs are heavy and catchy, but also bluesy and melodic when needed. Rob's bass is on point throughout. In terms of solos, this is easily Kirk's best work on the album. And the lyrics are some of James' most deeply personal, resonant and personal ever.

Thanks for doing the whole album man, loved the journey! This album surprised me. I knew I would like it, Metallica has been my favorite band for over 20 years, but I’m genuinely surprised by how much I like it. Inamorata as the closer is perfect, and certainly has instantly earned its spot as a Metallica classic.

There is so many songs in there. Is it Loverman voice in the slow part, unforgiving 3 build up to a Orion type part. Then it ends with a halo on fire with a call of Kutulu finish.

I saw you were enjoying it! It was a whole another level of journey, completely. Mesmerizing, cosmic, emotional and lyrical phenomenon. This album is banger, crazy job was done. Godly voice from James, the riffs.. Kirk was on point, Rob rocked it, Lars was feeling it! I’m watching you already for years and I really enjoy your reactions, on point and genuine. Glad you’re taking your time on doing it to really feel it. Thank you too for this beautiful journey!

Have been obsessed with this song and it's a instant masterpiece stunning riffs, boasting bass, phenomenal chords, and guitar solos, powerful drums and a masterful set of vocals that bring the emotion of the song straight into your soul. Phenomenal and amazing!!! Truly Metallica!! First time I heard it i honestly felt like it was about the pain Metallica felt when Cliff Burton tragically left , have probably listened to it a hundred times now, and still feel the same way.

First of your videos I’ve seen. For me, you nailed it with the word groove and that’s what I’ve been telling folks. It took me a minute, but I picked up on the deep groove that permeates the whole album IMHO and was immediately in from that point. Seek out the groove dear listeners! 🤘🏼

What’s also underrated in terms of harmonies are the vocal harmonies. James is pure fire in this song!

I think this song is like a hash of their career up to this point. Details from each era is being presented in the album, and in this song specifically. The fast solos like the 80s, the groove from the 90s, bits and sections from DM and halo on fire.

There's a lot of people I've been following since the Hardwired days, who decided to skip out on this record cycle and just listen to the album on their own time, which I understand of course, but it was still a bit of a bummer, personally. That being said, I couldn't be happier you shared your journey with us twice. I still go back and watch your Hardwired reactions, to relive that excitement of the 1st listen, and now I'll have these as well. Thank you for that, it's a gift to us all.

Nothing but chills with James singing & harmonizing guitars. Many don't know James & Kirk love the same power riffs & melodic guitar transitions from the very beginning, that is after Dave Mustain. That is why they are the King Duos of Heavy Metal harmonizing on those guitars. Yeah, if Kirk threw away the wah pedal connector for more songs his solos they would be great. I like the Wah pedal sound but not all the dam time. Both extremely talented musicians. I give 72 Season's a 9.4 Richter scale score. About 4 songs could be edited with more transition guitar work & areas of momentum loss could easily be fixed because of too simple slow chord progression after heavy & faster more complicated work. This album could be a masterpiece if a few areas of 4 or 5 songs had simple changes in areas of them. I wouldn't change a damn thing on Inanormata, Room of Mirrors, Shadow Follows, You Must Burn, Darkness had a Son, Chasing Light (one little area), 72 Seasons (Too much symbol on drums otherwise great)

There are a few callbacks i picked up on: - Definitely has the Fixxxer vibe overall. - The middle harmonizing part after the soft vocals by James is very reminiscent of the My Friend of Misery harmony part. - The ending had the same feel as the Halo on Fire outro, I just wished it would have ended like Fade to Black or Outlaw Torn and kept the solo going as the track faded out.

Depends on the moment and how you are listening to it but this album is their best since black album. If we go point by point with the intention of highlighting each by the age and overall what the album offers and this is another level. A well balanced album. Death magnetic and HTSD have special points but to me this is a Masterpiece

You definitely hit the nail on the head as far as they don’t need to try and make another MOP or RTL or fill in the blank. They’re in their 60s and have done more in their 40+ years than most bands could ever imagine. They’ve definitely earned the right to write whatever music they want (that they can play at their ripe old age lol), especially since those previous albums will never go away. They’ll always be there for us to enjoy, and now we have even more music to enjoy. And I really dig this album. I really can’t wait to see them live in August.
