@savageblue25 yeah he used alot of modes in the major and minor scales but he always kept it very pentatonic. He never was much of a shredder either in the sense that most of his speed runs are legato and not picked unless we're talking about speed runs on one string of course :)

@Cheapooo yeah it is,dont buy a too expansive model,its good to start with a low price guitar(because you will learn to change the strings or some similar stuff with the hardware ) and a good amp (like 15w)

@SaBlackLabel24 Where did that line 6 come from? IMO Line 6 is pretty crappy (Spider series, dunno about others but I'm not a huge fan of digital sound, I prefer "real" amps). Mesa Boogie might be the best quality, they are all checked and made in USA (don't know if they're hand made or not). But there are many good amps like Marshalls and they are better than any digital amp IMO. What's wrong with digital stuff? It lacks something, I don't know what but it doesn't feel right.

@math1st I wasn't talking about skills, I notice you didn't read correctly what I wrote. The skills don't mean how good some guitarists are in somebody's opinion. I know that they really are more skilled but some guys appreciate different styles, some may like some blues player that is not as skilled as John Petrucci or Steve Vai and say that he is his favorite guitarist. I know that skills are fact but that how good somebody is is their own opinion. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SKILLS.

@math1st You can say whatever you want but it's stupid when guys are comparing two guitarists and one is saying that "Slash is better, Kirk sucks" and other is saying "Kirk is better, Slash sucks". None of them needs to suck that the other would be better. And none of them must be better. It's everybody's own opinion, somebody likes Slash's/Kirk's style. You can say that somebody sucks but does it make the world better place? I think not, you will just start a dumb argument that will never end.

@math1st If Paul Gilbert is good it doesn't mean that Slash or Kirk are crappy. They play different music. I know that Paul Gilbert is more skilled player but it doesn't make him better. That, who the best is, is everybody's own opinion. For example I like Mick Mars a lot and more than Paul Gilbert but it doesn't mean he's more skilled. Skills don't mean how good the player is in your opinion. And speed isn't everything. Don't compare guitar players, please.
