Unreal down picking control. Most people don’t know how much picking hand stamina you have to have to do that right and cleanly. Most of us alternate pick that because we’re mortals. I had a question regarding the 12th fret walk down. I saw another video about a guy who always does Metallica based stories and covers and he said most do that part wrong and end it at the 2nd fret so they can hit the open low E and use that time to get back to 12. He said it a actually goes down to fret 1. It sounded a bit different but both ways sound good. Regardless, your way makes it sound more seamless when restarting at 12. Even if it’s wrong your way is the way I do it. The other way sounds forced and jacks up my timing.

The correct way is to hit the 1 before hitting the open E string. There is an old video on KZbin of Kirk Hammett showing the Metallica riffs and he definitely hits the 1st fret. I actually just finished watching that in slow speed.
@tehlion74304 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHi8qKqsjM52n5o Watch Kirk play it, he definitely hits the first fret to finish that chromatic run down. It makes it a little more difficult to play than what's shown in this video.

I just found your channel last night and let me tell you something besides the fact that you are a top notch pro level guitarist and the fact that you are most skilled at helping people to fully understand what everything means as far as tabs go..you would have changed my entire life if we had youtube in the 1990s when I was 11 or 12. I grew up loving guns and roses the most and begged my parents for an electric guitar since I was like 7 or 8 every week. After the loss of a grandparent they finally caved and got me a cheaper Peavy guitar and amp that came as a kit. I had never played any guitar prior and I relied on a guy my mom worked with to explain in a note how to read tabs and what they meant. I never met the guy and it took me forever to understand how to play on my own without lessons. I played every night and day for over a decade and I could play some songs pretty well but I was always lost on things like pinch harmonics and some other things. Palm muting was easy to understand but solos stumped me a lot. I was born in 84 so I think I started jamming at like 1995 or 96. I gotta get both my electric guitars fixed soon so I can start catching up on the lost love of my life, playing quality guitar. Thanks a ton
@johnlarson4254 Жыл бұрын
Ps.. I forgot to mention how on youtube you can slow the speed down. It makes it perfect to see what you're doing and how to hit and time every note. Thank you for doing exactly what you do and please keep up the great work. Big thanks from Wisconsin

that 21/32 time signature is unbelievably accurate. Kudos to you sir!
@j00mi5 ай бұрын
how to count that?
@ewowoi5 ай бұрын
@@j00mi grossly simplified, 4/4 Time signature means, you need 4 counts of 1/4 (quarter note) pulse for each bar, 21/32, means you need 21 counts of 1/32 note pulse for each bar, therefore to count that you can use 1/32 note 21 times for that exact bar. in this song case those bar implements 3 count 1/8th note (3/8) followed by 1/16th rest, lastly with 2 count of 1/8th note (2/8), totaling 3/8 + 1/32 + 2/8 using simple math to make it common denominator 12/32 + 1/32 + 8/32 = 21/32.

Lyrics: End of passion play, crumbling away I'm your source of self-destruction Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear Leading on your death's construction Taste me, you will see More is all you need You're dedicated to How I'm killing you Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master Master Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master Needlework the way, never you betray Life of death becoming clearer Pain monopoly, ritual misery Chop your breakfast on a mirror Taste me, you will see More is all you need You're dedicated to How I'm killing you Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master Master Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master (Master, Master) Master, Master, where’s the dreams that I’ve been after? Master, Master, you promised only lies Laughter, laughter, all I hear or see is laughter Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries Fix me! Hell is worth all that, natural habitat Just a rhyme without a reason Never ending maze, drift on numbered days Now your life is out of season I will occupy I will help you die I will run through you Now I rule you too Come crawling faster Obey your master Your life burns faster Obey your master Master Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream Master Master

You're playing the intro riff a little bit wrong. At the tail end of the riff you're playing 3-0-2-0 on the E string but it's actually 3-0-2-1.

I usually do not comment on vids. But DAMN!!!! Total respect. I’ve been playing for many years. I know the level of perfection in which you played this. Wow😯

Outstanding as always! Sheet music to boot. I thought the 21/32 was really 5/8, but who am I to argue with someone who matches the sound of the record and plays so effortlessly.

There's a slight error here. In the first intro riff, after you play the second fret, you're supposed to play the first fret next instead of an open string.

Tried learning from other vids in the past but everyone says the tabs were wrong, this one seems really good, I’ll definitely give this song another try. Thank you man Edit: I had already learned the solo and some other parts before this, so I just had to learn the rhythm parts, took me a couple days but I got it, excellent video

Wow!! Subscribed! At the 0:14 mark, would you agree that the descending chromatic riff should end with 0-2-1-0 vs 0-2-0-0 instead? It is quite difficult to hear because that riff is heavily palm-muted. Let me know what you think!
