I can only imagine where I'd be if I hadn't discovered this track and gotten the metaphorical kick in the balls it gave me. As cliché as this comment may be, seriously, if you're reading this and you are struggling in a similar way I was, it's not too late. You are so much stronger than you think. The Master is only the master until you tell him to fuck off. EDIT: Thanks for all the love, everyone. Still going strong!

I’m about to rant about how much I love this song. Everything comes together so well and Metallica truly is telling a story through their lyricism. Even down to the instrumental. The song is obviously narrated by the substance, towards the user. The most remarkable part to me is the bridge before that last “Master, Master” Sounds to me as if the person has now reached an overdose and is falling into the pits of death with that last scream. The tone of the guitars riffs guides you through the user going through the steps of a near death experience and as the music slowly progresses back up to the basic tune of the song as if the user is now coming back to life now trying to live without the drug and now going through a phase of rage. “Master, Master where’s the dreams that I’ve been after? Master, Master you promised only lies …” It’s just very interesting and impressive to see just how Metallica produced this song. This is good music. It really portrays the demonization of drugs and just how they can control you. Well done

I dug into the whole thing of Eddie playing this in stranger things season 4 and honestly I think I figured it out. During the riff at 5:40 if you slow down the clip you can see that Eddie plays a hard F sharp power cord. As well as when Eddie is shredding out you can sync the finger placements in the EXACT SAME order as the master of puppets solo. To further prove my point you don’t think Eddie would be listening to Europe no obviously like Anthrax and Metallica. And lastly we see Eddie hit the two hard strums just like in master of puppets case closed.

For me this song is how there are two personalities within me fighting with each other. Master: the personality which tells me I am shit and no one gives a fuck about me because I am this big loser who has achieved nothing in life. Basically everything that symbolizes negativity and darkness Puppet : the real me who wants to break free of the chains bounding me from flying away.

I don't understand why people have to hate on other genres of music. I like almost any genre. going from Melodic death metal to EDM... I don't see what hating on other peoples music accomplishes. It just makes people mad and causes arguments ...
@sarunasveselka898010 жыл бұрын
I too like a wide variety of genres, but it's only human nature to argue about subjective things like musical preference. I don't mind this, it's what keeps humans sane; it's called freedom of speech and expression. However, I will agree some people exercise this freedom foolishly.
@weeeeee83110 жыл бұрын
Sarunas Veselka I agree with expressing musically opinions; like "I don't like X band because..." but like "everyone who listens to X band is a faggot". That kind of stuff doesn't really make sense...

Josh Strutt That's what happens when uneducated people try to debate. They add social attacks (that usually don't make any sense, there's nothing wrong with being gay) without seeing the other side of the argument. Although, this could also be justifiable in certain situations i.e..: In my opinion anyone who thinks that Justin Bieber is better than, let's say, Metallica, they're pretty darn stupid. I will not see to their side of the argument because I know very well that it's terrible music.

It would have been awesome if Metallica made a video for this. I can imagine some kid spending the first two minutes trudging through a decrepit city trying to hook up with the drug dealer. Then, through the next verse, he is prepping his "breakfast on a mirror". Then at 3:30, the drug hits. Nothing but sweet memories, beautiful plans for the future, floating, flying, joy, happiness. But around 4:45, thing start to go wrong. The dream fades away to some dank cellar, at 5:20, the kid is in a stupor, being taken advantage of until 6:50 . . . then the kid is back looking for the dealer. After finding the dealer, the cops show and a chase ensues. The video ends with the kid in front of a rehab center, police bearing down, dealer encouraging escape. Fade to black (with laughter).

I would also propose this....to you Metallica fans who haven't watched Stranger Things, you better. Because that was the most metal use of Metallica ever. Ozzy could only DREAM of being that metal.....to perform a concert in an evil, satanic dimension with red lightening as your pyro effects? Seriously, this wasn't even the first use of Metallica on Stranger Things. The Duffer Bros are clearly fans or else they respect that Metallica was the best metal band of the 80's until Pantera stole their crown in like 1992.

The comment sections for almost all Master of Puppets videos across KZbin are gonna start getting flooded with Stranger Things comments. And not just this song, but other Metallica songs too. This is exactly what happens when a song is put into a series/movie. I already discovered this song way back 2018 and it is one of the best songs ever. This song got me to metal music. Now. I already listened to a lot of metal songs and it is one of my preferred genres. METAL FOR LIFE.

Andrew Massa My parents (I'm 16) bought me Hardwired to self destruct. Well, last month I thought that it would have been one of they're best albums, but then, 24th december, I was a bit disappointed, so I wasn't so glad to see it under the Christmas tree. I would have preferred RTL or the black album.
