@@avocadodip2157 The only reason why Ron McGovney was kicked out is because Lars and James really wanted Cliff Burton in the band. They literally used Ron's garage and equipment to rehearse, and Ron was actually incredibly enthusiastic about the band. Stories go that Ron could keep timing on the rhythm better than James, but they let him go after they started to make the rounds in clubs and needed a showman who'll walk around the stage and look relaxed and confident while playing, because apparently Ron and Dave did nothing but stand in one place and headbang.

I always have to bring this up... My dad's family lived in Old Bridge back in the early 80's. My dad's bus stop was right across from Megaforce Records, where he heard Metallica (as well as Anthrax and Overkill for that matter) recording their first albums. His older siblings were a part of the Old Bridge Militia, and they hung out with the guys from Metallica and Anthrax. A fun little story about this... Dave was still in Metallica at the time, he and my aunt's husband (my uncle, may he RIP) were at a bar together. My uncle got so fed up with Dave that he called him a pussy right to his face and left.

Been listening to Metallica for almost 20 years now, but I only heard this for the first time today I guess the most interesting part is that the songs here were practically already "finished" more than a year before Kill'em All was released. They were only more well produced to the album, but every riff, tone, snare etc, is here. I mean, dudes really knew how they wanted to sound back then, and that's even more impressive if you think that Hetfield was... let me search... 18 fucking years old on this? Astonishing. Hail to Metallica!

i like Mustaine's guitar playing better for these songs than Kirk's on Kill 'Em All, but this was when Metallica didn't have a "sound". Ride the Lightning to The Black Album was more beefy and defined Metallica as the crunchiest beefiest of the 4. Metallica and Megadeth's debuts sounded similar, because both were mostly written by Mustaine. Kirk better suits the sound Metallica made for themselves after Mustaine and the rest of them parted and took their own paths. That's what I have to say about the whole thing. Both excellent bands.

+Brett Wodon Mostly written by Mustaine? The thing is that Dave - being the insecure narcissist he is - always overexaggerated his importance as well as songwriting contributions in Metallica. Just like he regularly downplays the talents or contributions of ex-Megadeth musicians or attributes their accomplishments to himself. That's just standard Dave, spinning his stories, craving for validation and trying to make himself look grand. Dude co-wrote 4 songs on Kill 'Em All. That's it... Megadeth rocks, but Dave has always been a windbag and a mess.
@RyuBakuraFTW
@RyuBakuraFTW 8 жыл бұрын
You obviously have a bad ear. Dave wrote other songs that he never got credit for. He got ripped off big time. Do you think he cares at this point? Why should he? He gets royalties from Metallica and always will. Doesn't go vice-versa. Dave owes Metallica nothing. Dave's not credited for Hit the Lights. Think he cares? No. He just put out New World Order. Ending sound familiar? Did Metallica dare sue? Nope. They just shut their pieholes because they don't have anything against him, especially after the catalogs of music Metallica & Megadeth have put out over the years. Dave's songwriting style and arrangements are IMMEDIATELY recognizable. It was easy for Metallica to deny Dave's contributions early on, but time tells all. Metallica got a big royalty from 20th Century Fox for X-Men: Apocalypse... and so did Dave. Do you even business bro? Do you even compose bro? You're ragging on a guy who influenced 3/4 of the Big 4. Of any SOLE INDIVIDUAL that's influenced thrash, it's single-handedly Dave Mustaine. I'm no blindly loyal fanboy -- Dave says some dumb shit from time to time, and I pretend Risk doesn't exist, but talent is talent. He made something of himself... TWICE. How about you make something of yourself ONCE before you go bashing an elite musician.
