James was definitely shy on stage from late ‘81-early ‘83 but once Dave left he started to open up more little by little every show and by ‘86 before cliff died he was maybe then completely comfortable on stage speaking wise and yea cliff at this time had “Pom-Pom” hair

@@goldenwolf8081 every vocalist is shy when they first start. I think it took James a bit longer to get comfortable because Dave was doing so much, giving James less time to practice being a frontman. In a way, Dave was stifling James growth by occupying such a large potion of the frontman position without actually being the frontman.
@CoachRDW10 күн бұрын
@@Kapricorn.Musick I've said the same thing for years. After seeing all of that one famous interview (the one Mustaine ends with, "Metal Up Your Ass!"), Dave was sitting in the center of the table with the others gathered around. Dave was holding court. It was obvious to me, watching all those years later, and surely just as obvious to the band members, that *Dave* was the focal point, in large part because he was presenting himself as such. Agree with you that James hadn't had enough practice being the frontman. And tons of us know *exactly* what it feels like when a group of people contributes to an effort, yet one person tries to hog attention to him/herself.

@@filipegomes8888 Exactly. The song on Master Of Puppets that Dave contributed to is "Leper Messiah". After the release of "Master", Capital Records (Megadeth label) made contact with Elektra Records (Metallica Label), explaining they had recorded music by their artist and no credit was given. At a meeting, label executives, lawyers from both companies heard a tape that showed that Dave had written the middle breakdown part and the music in the chorus, came up with the title and wrote lyrics. Metallica didnt use the Mustaine lyrics, which were deeper themed in anti-religious overtones than the TV evangelist theme Metallica went with. Metallica were told by their own label, that they would be settling the situation out of court by paying Capitol Records, Megadeth (Dave) an agreed amount of cash, plus lawyers fees. Rumor is that Cliff was told, those previously written Dave parts, we're authored by Hetfield~Ulrich when they weren't.
@shytownmofo4 жыл бұрын
Really? Dave wrote Mechanix and Jump. James wrote different lyrics to Jump, and he and Lars reworked Mechanix into Horsemen. Dave said he wrote the music to Phantom, and James wrote the lyrics. The only thing Dave was alleged to have written on Leper was the breakdown/bridge riff, which does sound very Megadeth. Yes, they did settle, but you notice he doesn't get any writing credit. If he'd written the whole song, he'd have gotten credit

@Queenie no they probably wouldn’t, actually. If Dave stayed, half of ride the lightning and master of puppets wouldn’t have been written, most of it was Kirk and other co writing. And justice wouldn’t have happened, since Cliff then probably wouldn’t have died and Jason wouldn’t ever Even been in the band. And the black album, which is the album that made them as famous as they are today, wouldn’t have happened either because Kirk wrote sandman(their most successful song), and sandman is what brought them back to the studio. And after that, you know the story. Had Dave stayed, Cliff would have left because he hated Dave, Lars would be kicked out(and hate on Lars all u want, he is a very important member), and James and Dave would constantly fight and the band would break up. And in the little timethey would have been together, they would have never experimented with their sound like they do now, they would just play simple thrash.
