There's something special about this performance. This was at the beginning of a notoriously weak period for the band (bad drumming, weak vocals, too much wah) but everything here is so perfect. The tone is incredible, James is roaring into the mic, Lars is blistering, and the mosh is going absolutely mental for it. If we could see this tenacity again it'd be amazing, cause it's up there with Seattle '89.

No, Madly in Anger with the World 2004 was their weakest period live performing wise. They were sloppy as heck, Lars and Kirk especially, and James' vocals were quite terrible as well. Check some vids from that period and you'll see. ;)

@@joelschultz2695 James sounds pretty good in the vid you've sent me, and they played OK, except Lars' fast double bass part after the first chorus sounds pretty sloppy, not to mention his nonsensical fills (snare/snare, snare/hi-hat, snare/hi-hat, snare/snare, snare/hi-hat, snare/hi-hat) in the middle part, but otherwise they're not too sloppy there. :) They could play way worse than that for sure in that era.
