My grandfather requested this song to be sung at his funeral by me. No idea why he wanted me to sing it but of course I did now every time I listen to this song I feel like crying. I remember once it came on the radio whilst I was in work I had to go out of the room til it had gone off. Luckily those in work with have become friends and by then they knew why and didn't question it.

what the title implies: depressing song about meaningless of life what song actually is about: doing what you believe in without caring about what others might think or how they see you. finding the positives in your own life and not letting others detract from what makes your life worth living
@mertoj15364 жыл бұрын
Thanks for explaining, I definetely needed to know. It's not like people listen to this because it's good right? It's because it has meaning?? Right? Right?

@@mertoj1536 i mean considering metal still has a stigma of being about "evil," it's nice to point out how so many of them encourage positive messages but you're more than welcome to be a dick, and help reinforce the stereotype that metalheads are wild, savage and rude

I second DZ and also remember you still have yourself and it may sometimes seems worthless but having yourself and understanding that you exist and have a real body is really important. I adore this song, lyrics,music and above all interpretations. This is a love song dedicated by James to his former girlfriend at the time of writing the song. Also, James sad in one interview this is a song of brotherly love, which later became associated many times with the former member Cliff Burton who died in an accident. The song could mean both, the last goodbye to brother or a love latter to a girlfriend who is far away. However, beautiful in both ways !!

I sang and sang this to him all night and rubbed my belly, when he was born and multiple times a week. I got a huge picture before he was born that are these song lyrics- they hang above his bed in the shape of a guitar. And how your dad knew this I’ll never know… cause I never told him, and the first time he seen you after jail he picked up a guitar and sang this to you.
