My father was murdered July 2018. This song was played at his funeral. Metallica was his favorite band. It's so hard to listen to this without crying. RIP Dad. We'll find who did this! You'll get justice! EDIT : Thank you for all the love , it means a lot! Xoxo

My grandfather requested this song to be sung at his funeral by me. No idea why he wanted me to sing it but of course I did now every time I listen to this song I feel like crying. I remember once it came on the radio whilst I was in work I had to go out of the room til it had gone off. Luckily those in work with have become friends and by then they knew why and didn't question it.

I second DZ and also remember you still have yourself and it may sometimes seems worthless but having yourself and understanding that you exist and have a real body is really important. Trust me if a bad thing happens a good thing will happen that now it works even if it never seems like it. A really bad thing brings a really good thing. I genuinely believe in a better place for you and that you'll be there. Keep surviving and also living.

I love how so many people like metallica due to their dead loved ones loved/played metallica songs. My dad loved metallica, and he died a few years back, and I grew up listening to metallica. My brother plays their songs on guitar all the time just like my dad did

I adore this song, lyrics, music and above all interpretations. This is a love song dedicated by James to his former girlfriend at the time of writing the song. Also, James sad in one interview this is a song of brotherly love, which later became associated many times with the former member Cliff Burton who died in an accident. The song could mean both, the last goodbye to brother or a love latter to a girlfriend who is far away. However, beautiful in both ways !!

Mac Kash. Youre closer to the true meaning of this song. This song is dedicated to the hero that dwells within yourself. The one that always obeys your heart instincts the one that we hardly listen to until we are facing the moment of truth, this song is dedicated to the free spirits, child flower hippies, liberals, maverick, whistel blowers, rebeldes, targeted individuals, flat earthers, and anyone thats able to see reality and is fighting for the same cause as we are the true guardians of this plane t

This song always makes me think of my youngest baby boy… I’ve always had like a song I’ve sang my kids like a “our song or their song” this one was Bo’s song. I sang and sang this to him all night and rubbed my belly, when he was born and multiple times a week. I got a huge picture before he was born that are these song lyrics- they hang above his bed in the shape of a guitar. And how your dad knew this I’ll never know… cause I never told him, and the first time he seen you after jail he picked up a guitar and sang this to you.

I lost a friend too. Close to three years ago. The wound is still there but it's healing. If you ever need to talk to someone who doesn't really know you (sometimes it's easier to open up to someone you know you barely have a chance to meet). I'll be there for you... Be brave, you are not alone in this. 🌹
