I think James didn't feel super comfortable singing this song live for quite a long time, it was a bit out of his comfort zone, then during the late 90s early 2000s he was more confident but sang it with more country crooner style. James's voice took a bit of hit for a while (only a little) and now I think it's better than it has been in years he sounds amazing

These guys could have retired decades ago and enjoyed their wealth in peace. Thank u metallica for still entertaining us. This is a true example of what a band is.
