Still one of the most beautifully composed heavy metal songs ever. All those different types of guitars layered on top of each other makes for something extremely special.

Where did you get that claim from? 1991 was their 10th year ( a decade ) as a band, and just 3 years ago they released their first video and played at the grammys. They were definitely not " washed up " as a band as you can see from each album they were improving so much. The only time they were really washed up was when jason left, james went to rehab. That could have ended badly.

Colleen Burns I’m sorry for your loss❤️ Had a long train ride home to North Jutland 7 years ago on august 31 2011 while listening to this masterpiece over & over again, I had just seen my brother for the last time after he unfortunately died during his work in copenhagen, he was working on the FN building as a construction labor, when a crane uncontrolleably threw him & the lift he was standing inside 2 stairs down, while he was busy manually moving it into a container which was hanging onto the crane.. 😓 That lift apparently didn’t have a remote... While about a year later, it turns out the people behind this project didn’t spend enough on the general security.. I wish people would be treated & taken better care off by the industries worldwide, who literally depends on everyone of us, so we could all live life to the fullest and thrive ❤️

I need to say, this song haves something special, it makes me cry almost every time i hear it, not for being sad, it's most of the time because of the solo, James's solo it's so full of something I can only describe as passion and energy, I feel it every single time, it's just something different, Lars and Jason killed it, the lyrics are perfect, this is a true masterpiece, I'm 18, and I have been a metallica fan since I was 4, not knowing it was them, I owe metallica a lot of things, but most importantly the passion for music, Thanks Metallica, I'll see you guys april 27th in Chile, my dream it will finally come true.

This song is almost hard to listen to for me. I remember listening to it on a trip to Colorado. It was a rainy day so we sat in my dad's van, me a few friends, my little brother and my dad. He never liked Metallica but was a musician himself and appreciated good music. I had just gotten this album (on cassette). We just watched an amazing lightning storm in the best of nature. It opened my dad to a lot of other music that he didn't normally listen to. That was twenty six years ago, lost him last year. Every time I hear this song, that memory comes up.

Rick Frazer That sounds like one of those rare moments in life where somehow everything aligns in the moment with just the right ambiance and the right people at just the right time to form the perfect memory...it’s those simple but beautiful times that end up being the most important in the end.. My dear dear friend Tim passed away earlier in november. He died at the age of 33 years old and he was one year older than me. His birthday was the day before mine. So my 33 birthday will be hell because we always talked on the 4th. This was his favorite band and this song was played on his funeral yesterday. Fucking heart breaking and the sorrow wont heal. He was the funniest person you could ever know and always had a girl by his side. He never ever went home alone. And we partied every weekend and sometimes more than that for many years. He was awesome and I loved seeing him bring the ladies home. He will be so so missed by a lot of people. My life will never be the same again without him. I love him now and forever and Metallica will always be a reminder of him. So this song is for Tim

It will always be relevant. Especially if people keep getting dragged down by society to the point of depression, just because they don't go with the flow of the masses. Today's society expects you to just take it and swallow it down if people treat you like shit. They expect you to not fight back because that would be seen as "aggression" since they're blind for what they have done to you in the first place. Do not fall for that. Stand up for yourself and teach those asses to not fuck around with you! Some things in this world are worth fighting for, including your mental health.

I agree. Most of today's lyrics are either stupid, repetitive and don't make you feel anything. I'm 66 and was raised in the best music era ever. I do, however like GVF and Five Finger Death Punch.
