I bought Hardwired the week it came out. My little brother was sick we didn't know what was wrong with him. On December 9th 2016, our daddy's 80th birthday, we found out my little brother had pancreatic cancer. I went home to Texas to care for my brother. I brought my Metallica CD with me because out in East Texas the radio stations are few and there's nothin' but tractor ads and lotsa talk about Jesus and many miles of highway. I listened to Hardwired everytime I was in the pickup headed to the hospice. It helped to keep me sane during this time. The live shit is a lot of happy memories for me. I've seen y'all 29 times.This song. My little brother was 46 years old and his march toward eternity was horrible and painful. He was so brave. Kingdom came for him on January 17th 2017 and he had faith he was going to walk right through that open door. I miss him very much. I know someday we'll be together again. This song. This one and all the others y'all have recorded have been the soundtrack of my life since I was 13. Helped me through many tough times. Been part of great adventures. Thank you.

madcracker84 Now days its all about catchy tunes and noises, and no emphasis on the lyrics or the meaning. Thats why all these popular songs lose interest after a month. There is just nothing to them anymore. Just look at most of the popular metal music these days. People just want something loud and obnoxious rather than something genuine. I'd rather listen to soft music with real meaning than simplistic bang your head thrasher all day., but when a band mixes both of those, now that is godly.

This is just what Metallica needs, a simple, clean video for each of their song. The band plays tight in a studio, black ensemble as their signature for the outfits, amps, great lighting. It still allows the listeners to have different meanings to the song as James said it in an interview back in the 90s but also maintaining the band's presence in digital media to stay relatable with current generation. Coz their music speaks for themselves, and their live performance is much more awaited. Their live performance will always sound more attractive than from hearing the music through the LPs. Long live Metallica!!!

When Hetfield lost the ability to scream the way he did, he changed his vocal style and it still kicks arse!
@martinkuliza5 жыл бұрын
When did he lose the ability to scream the way he did ?? Hetfield isn't like Bruce Dickinson , he didn't start of classically trained he basically winged it James started off WITH NO VOCAL TRAINING AT ALL, ok, that was Kill em all, Justice and puppets. mid way though Puppets and officially starting from Black his voice improved dramatically because of his vocal training James 's voice got better over time, not worse and he couldln't scream in the beginning to begin with so how did he lose what he didn't know how to do if anything, James perfected his scream, it didn't get worse if anything, James has publically said that before his vocal training he damaged his voice to a point because he was using incorrect technique then his training got his voice back in shape James didn't lose his scream then changed it to compensate he IMPROVED his scream also understand this (since i sing as well) as you stretch your vocals over time, YOUR VOICE WILL CHANGE AS A RESULT OF THE STRETCHING, this is completely normal James didn't lose anything but, i'm interested to know at what point DO YOU THINK he did
@MrWepx-hy6sn5 жыл бұрын
@@martinkuliza most people think metal singers (especially thrash and other "extreme" genres) need to blow their fucking vocal chords to sound good. I sing, thought no professionally and am mainly self trained, one of the things I started to do to protect my voice is not trying to scream on the top of my lungs like an idiot to sound "good" while singing metal because I nearly blew my vocal chords once because of not having proper technique. I also believe James sounds great, yes, he hasn't sound as raspy since Justice but he saved his voice because of that. I remember hearing about cancelled concerts and album delays from a shitton of bands backs in the 2000s because they blew their chords trying to sound "metal" but people are idiots and criticize proper technique for not being trve and metal enough

This music just flows right. Simple but kick-ass riffage, hooky chorus, smooth transitions. James delivering solid vocals. This album mixes well the package. Some thrash songs inspired by the 80`s albuns mixed well with some heavy, groovy songs that recall Metalllica's catalog from the 90's. A well balanced album, in which Metallica cleverly pays tribute to many of their influences (Sabbath, Maiden, Motorhead) and also revisits and adjusts their own style to these days. That is the kind of work that sets Metallica apart from other bands.

I mean, I have enjoyed all Metallica albums. But I know them before the black album, and when it was released, I thought: Yeah! It's good, but it's not like the other four. And it was the same with all the albums from 96 to 2008. When Magnetic came out, I started to feel a little diferent: maybe they will come back to the spirit of the 80s? 8 years later, I say: Fuck yeah! They're almost 30 years older, and so am I, but the feeling when I listened to Moth into flame for the first time, it makes me remember when I listened to Harvester when I was 11.

Start at the beginning. By Justice you'll be a devoted fan. By Re-Load you'll be wondering why you've wasted so much of your life and what life would have been like if Dave had stayed in the band. Keep in mind, this is when they lost their hair - and much like Samson, their Power. Around St. Anger, you'll be wondering how far you can see from that clock-tower and how hard it would be to carry heavy things up the stairs - because They. Must. Pay. Watching Monster, you'll realize that Lars really is the whiny little bitch you always thought him to be and was accurately depicted in the "Napster" cartoon parodies. Finally, at Hardwired you'll think that maybe the universe isn't actually hell and perhaps life does have light and hope once more. But James' singing lessons were still a mistake.

Perhaps my sensibilities have softened over the years, but Load and Re-Load (and Garage Days) are probably the albums I find myself listening to most. There are some great songs on Death Magnetic (just poor recording) and some on Hardwired as well (including this one for sure). Metallica has aged amazingly well IMO.
