This video could've been twice as long, but reason has taken over. Anyway, the full scrip is available on my Patreon, if you're curious www.patreon.com/posts/31939722 I hope it's worth the wait, and you want more songs analized like this. And yeah, search for "metallica one demo" and "one james riff tape" for futher studying \m/

I remember before Hardwired came out, I saw a fan online who thought the song Murder One was going to be a sequel to One. Everybody knew beforehand that the song was going to be a tribute to Lemmy, except for this guy. He had this whole theory about how it was going to be about killing the soldier in One as to pretty much put him out of his misery. I felt kinda bad for the guy because he had this whole thing built up in his head about what he thought this song would be, while literally everybody else (correctly) knew what it was really gonna be about.

And is was so amazingly composed it was able to hook me into the genre after listening to pretty much nothing but Queen and the Beatles for the prior part of my life. I've been saying this for years, I think that once someone hears the idea that One changed everything, they get it, but I think it's great that you played a bit of "Californication" because they are one of the bands that I point to as an example of bands that benefit from the idea of mixing power ballads and harder rock together. One was the first Metallica song I ever heard while hanging out with my older cousins who were headbangers and the video came on Mtv. I've always considered it Metallica's finest song, maybe because it was the first one I heard and it blew my ears and ass off.

About Fade to Black: I think the intro also Sketches out the outro. Foreshadowing what’s to come in the end

I love this new series, I'm really looking forward to more! When I was at Uni studying Music, we had to pick our favourite song and write a speech on why it was our favourite, and analyse it. I chose One \m/. Oh, the machine gun riff is what got me in to Metallica in the first place

For me the best part of One is something I cannot completely explain: Lars and James are so in sync in terms of their levels of aggression in the "Machine Gun" section.

Dude, you thought about this exactly the way I did. I'm gonna check out the long version of the video. This song IS brilliant. The intro is actually the first thing I ever learned on guitar (obvious reasons), but I can still entertain my mind just thinking about different aspects of the song.

Dude, you're amazing, thanks for showing and teaching me and other people music theory that is used in this gem of a song. And also, teaching me some things that I did when composing but didn't know why it sounded good. Here's a like and subscribe! :D
