Wow, all these years, I always thought James sang ".... wakened by horrid scream, free'd from this lightning beam"; also, what did he say after the microphone mishap when he picked up the verse on the other mic? (during Ride the Lightning)

@VII-p2s6 ай бұрын

If this is the same concert that came from Through The Never special they did a few years ago, they were definitely having major problems with the electric system during that show. They lost power entirely later that show.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Outside of Cliff Jason was crucial for that band. Robert Trujillo sucks, and the band just isn’t the same. That fire power Jason brought was amazing.
@bisioman Жыл бұрын
they need a bassist, not a chorus member, Robert is infinitely more skilled than Jason. I also love Jason, and the mark that he left on the band its undeniable, but objectively Robert makes a better job playing, A LOT. Robert is the reason why Metallica dont play the same setlist over and over and over since 2003, the reason why Orion and The Call of Ktulu sound as they should, and not simplified basslines, and more importantly, Robert is the reason why Metallica is still a band nowadays
@infinitedarkness9476 Жыл бұрын
@@bisioman I completely disagree. And I don’t see your point about being a chorus member. You severely underrate Jason’s playing. Rob is NOT better than him at all. Set list or not, you can’t compare the set lists they do. Do you know they were going through a lot especially James with him battling alcoholism. Jason brought more energy. He brought more passion. He was a better singer. He was a better player. The only thing Rob brings is the ability to walk around the stage like a crab. If you would legitimately listen to both of them playing, you will see Jason was better. You’re free to believe what you want but Metallica was better with Jason. They’ve gone massively downhill since he left, and the music shows. Their new album sucks. Hardwired was fairly good, but not great. Death magnetic was terrible. Many of the other albums were terrible.

@@infinitedarkness9476 Kirk Hammett would disagree with you. He said during the audition process that (in regards to how rob played) he hadn't seen anyone play like that since Cliff. I think Robert is an amazing bassist and probably more technically skilled than Jason. Sure he doesn't embody the same demonic bass player that Jason did, but he encapsulates current Metallica. Current Metallica isn't the same group of angry testosterone fueled men they were back when Jason was around. They are older, happier, just trying to play music for the sake of having fun. They can do that with Robert. Have you seen the way Kirk and Rob play around and have fun together on stage? I never saw that with Jason at all. I think Robert was and still is exactly what Metallica needed when they found him. I wouldn't change a thing.
@comedrawcomicwithhc2385 Жыл бұрын
Can you get more hateful than this?? God you gotta be fun around, also, some opinions are better kept with you. Robert is an amazing player and they’ve said it themselves, no one has played the way he played since cliff. Jason used a pick which made it 10x easier, and also had a great backing vocals, but that doesn’t mean Robert is worse than him. He is a better player and it shows. Also, regarding your second comment. DM was amazing but James’ voice wasn’t the strong side there but it’s their first thrash metal album since AJFA that is purely thrash. It was a great album as a first of many years of complete heaviness and new experiences they have had with expanding their genre. Robert honors both cliffs and Jason, and both are amazing players, Jason was crucial musically, but Robert is crucial to keep the band together and sane. Robert is the glue of the band and would’ve broken up without him, both us and the fans are thankful for Robert. Had the most experience as a bassist. Playing with ST and the prince of darkness himself, so he is no joke on the bass

Kirk butchering every single instance of a Fade to Black solo is painful. For once, play it like it’s on the record man.
