I had the pleasure of eating pizza with Rob when he was with Suicidal. They were here in Houston opening for Queensryche in 91'. I was seventeen. I had to take the Park and Ride bus to downtown because I hade no car. The bus put me at the Summit (venue) four hours early. After thirty minutes outside the venue this van stops at the bottom of the stairs where my friends and I were sitting and Rob gets out of the van and says, "Hey you guys, you want some free pizza?" Just from that experience I can say Rob is a really great guy. I still have the cassette tape he gave me. It was a Suicidal promo tape that had three songs on it which Rob made sure all the band members signed it. Such a cool guy.

I felt like I was transported back to the early days, when I first heard the song and was blown away by Cliff on bass, and how he played like a regular guitarist, instead of holding up the song and giving it that depth as a bassist does. I had no idea at the time, that a bass could be played like that. 😄 Cliff was one of a kind and Rob did him proud. Very well done and an amazing trip down memory lane. The boys still sound so good, I haven't seen them since their earlier days in the late 80's and early 90's before i had my first son in '93 who has seen Metallica himself now, about 5-6 years ago, I raised him right & he and mom still go headbanging to our favorite shows at least once a year usually in Sept, his birthday month. We have some shows to make up for the 4 yrs he did in the Army & we didn't get to go for 2 of those 4 years he signed a contract to commit to, because of the plandemic. 😝 I'm very close to James, Lars & Kirk's ages, they have me beat only by a year or two. I started listening right before MOP dropped, during RTL which this song is from. I might have to see them 1 more time, for old times sake with my favorite concert sidekick, my oldest son. We saw Lamb Of God with KSE most recently, in Sept of '22 amazing show, they bring it every time.🤘🏻😎

I love how James at the end throws up a kiss to the heavens, probably thanking Cliff from the bottom of his heart.

"That one was for Cliff. Uh..yeah..." Say no more, man. We feel ya all the way down with that. Rob really brought him back to life, even if only for a few minutes. Thanks, Bobby.

@@Irespecktyouall I’m talking stems. Not re mixing the already iffy mix. Yeah it might make Cliff’s bass a little more clear but I wanna hear the isolated track
@stevenlee10752 жыл бұрын
@@gooraleq a true bass boost? No. People have just remixed the already existing mix. I’m taking stems, like Orion, Bell Tolls, Master Of Puppets. We have Cliff’s isolated bass for those songs, not Ktulu
@jantzenallen30772 жыл бұрын
@@stevenlee1075 one reason is because ktulu wasn’t in guitar hero Metallica so only Metallica has the stems

I must have watched this a million times now, it's mesmerizing. Everyone's playing is on point, Rob particularly showing the World again that he's one of the best there will ever be, and their chemistry is great to see.

Definitely the best solo I have heard Kirk play in the last twenty years. He 98% nailed it. Fantastic job.

Rob, so has that down pat. I closed my eyes and I heard Cliff. Opened my eyes and saw Rob. What a great bass player, I play bass as well but at 42 I still can’t play Ktulu correctly.
