Correction: Some of the names that were suggested to have auditioned with Metallica when Cliff died were false. Instead they auditioned with Metallica when Jason Newsted left the band. Metallica's Kill 'Em All was released on the 25th of July in 1983, not in May as stated in the video. The album was however recorded in May.
@7BlueDodger2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I found some other inaccuracies throughout this video too. Mostly wording and phrasing issues. Also the constant referencing of San Francisco. Metallica didn’t actually move to SF, they lived outside of the city in El Cerrito and Cliff lived in Castro Valley. Stuff like that.

Kill 'Em All through And Justice for All for me after that they were never the same. 7-27-1989 Monsters Seattle Kingdome on the floor in the biggest ocean of a mosh pit I was and will ever be in. I love Metallica! I even like the albums they supposedly "sold out " on. Most bands tried new things but somehow Metallica gets most of the criticism. Megadeth put out Cryptic Writings and Risk. David Ellefson wore 500 dollar designer leather pants during the Risk phase. Chris Poland wore eyeliner back in the day. Slayer wore eyeliner, whips and chains, and they tried Nu Metal. Anthrax did Rap! Fucking Rap! Gary Holt (Exodus) cut his hair and wore basketball jerseys on stage looking like Limp Bizkit. Pantera wore lipstick and panties on stage with teased hair. Celtic Frost had a Glam phase. Testament tried Death Metal vocals and released Ballads, they even have a song called The Ballad. Flotsam And Jetsom put out Cuatro. Judas Priest had that Turbo Lover crap. Death Angel basically changed their name to The Organization and changed their sound, they did the same thing when they formed Swarm. David Bowie changed his style all the time. Metallica rules! Period! 🤘🏻

yeah, but in the early days of metal most bands wore spandex and some eye makeup, or at least several bands did. The only correction I would make that I noticed was incorrect was that the bass player auditions that they held in 1986 which got Jason the job, I think only one of those guys you named actually auditioned at that time and that was Les, I think he may have auditioned when Jason quit the band too but Pepper and Twiggy Did not audition until Jason left the band and they were looking for a new bass player in 2003 when they hired Robert.

@@RuthlessMetalYT I think Crossfire sounds kind of similar to Metal Church, of which I never thought of as a Thrash band either. I have watched similar shows to what your channel does, and they say the Metal Church debut was 1 of the greatest Thrash Metal Albums. I wouldn't even consider Metal Church or Crossfire Speed Metal or Thrash, it's just Agressive Traditional Metal. I just labeled it Thrash Metal because if people call Metal Church Thrash then Crossfire also fits the criteria . I like whatever Crossfire were doing more than actual Thrash Metal. I agree that Atlain was Speed Metal, at least Hallowed By the Priest qualified. However the GOE album was more mainstream Traditional Metal. I guess Iron Maiden were Atlain fans since they also used the album title Fear of the Dark, or is the Atlain album called Afraid of the Dark? It would be very interesting if you did a show on NWOBHM and clear up the mystery on why 2 separate UK bands that co existed as professional recording artists both used the band name Samurai , there were also 2 Saracens coexisting in the UK in the early 1980s Metal Scene. Or maybe shine some light upon why Manowar decided to go full on Devil Worship for only 1 album Hail to England, especially considering the anti Evil sentiments that were expressed on their prior release Into Glory Ride. I conquer Evil let Evil Know My Name, Come Forth Ye Wicked feel the gruesome pain , from Into Glory Ride song Hatred , Cut off my head release all my pain , impale me on the horns of death, Lucifer is king Praise Satan , from Hail to England track Across the Bridge of Death. They seem pretty self contradictory. Not to mention that they kicked off their career with a song called Death Tone that included lines like my social worker keeps me out of jail just so the paper reads his name. Manowar had covered some of the most unexpected, and unusual topics. It might be interesting to people to see a show on the bizarre concepts of Manowar songs. I can't really think of a more unusual band than the early career of Manowar

For me, this were the best years (though Cliff's death was tragic and a huge loss to the metal world) of Metallica when they were in their prime. Wouldn't you agree? The Black Album is good but not their best, even though it was the first Metallica album I ever got and Metallica was responsible for getting me into heavy metal. Anything after that, until Death Magnetic, are the rather uninteresting years of the band, though S&M is still amazing. And definitely, RIP Jon Zazula. Many people say that "Kill 'Em All" thru "And Justice For All" was the TRUE Metallica. The problem with the Black Album is that all those preppy kids and jocks who used to bully the headbanger kids for listening to Metallica and other metal music suddenly jumped on the "Enter Sandman" bandwagon in 1991. Just a few months prior, those wannabes were punking us true metal heads for wearing Metallica t-shirts. Metallica was a band that us outsider kids could keep right in our back pocket. Their music was for us. It was the "one" thing we could rely on that never turned its back.......until the Black Album was released.

Then one day on headbangers ball Vanessa Warwick played their then new video 'enter sandman' and I thought ok it's a bit commercial like 'escape'but that's OK the the rest of the album will be cool. How wrong I was😡 went out and bought it in anticipation of greatness,played it once then a second time just for it to register,then after that never played it again in its entirety!to say I was dissapointed is an understatement☹ after that Metallica went down in my estimations from what was my top metal band to just an average metal band. Not to say that the album was crap or anything but it shouldn't of been recorded by them! And after that I'm afraid it all went downhill. They've tried to come back with the likes of hardwired and death magnetic,but in my opinion the magic had gone, it was too little too late although they we're good albums.The spirit I'm afraid had gone. Cliff Burton once said that Metallica would most likely eventually mellow out and probably work with a 'big name producer' but said they weren't ready for that just yet in 1986. He also said if they change their sound and people don't like it or call them sell outs then - "whatever"

There is no question. Although Metallica have amazing albums, Megadeth has a better carrer. Solid albums (some are amazing too) and a history line without real bad moments. We cannot say the same with Metallica.

I think at least 50 percent of Megadeth's career is trash too. It's the first four that counts with both bands. ;) and perhaps countdown to extinction.
