This is one of the most underrated songs by Metallica. Most people about Justice they think about the title track, One, Blackened and To Live in To Die, but man the remaining songs are as good as the others and this one in particular is really amazing and the main riff is just sick, at least for me it is!

This blows me away seeing Metallica still throwin it down "til this day!!!!!! In my oppinion there are the 2nd or 3rd greatest rock band of all time behind the Beatles and MAYBE the Stones!!!!!! I know theyre of the hard rock genre but given what theyve endured and the FACT that they put on the greatest live shows... how can ANYONE disagree????

To the Lars Haters: Yes he's lost a step. Yeah he gives a little less than those late 80's concerts. But the fact is a drummer keeps time. He keeps up just fine and holds the song together. He's 50+ years old. A fifty year old marathoner losses a step too. Metallica shows are about the release of a shit-ton of energy and these guys have a catalog of songs for that and no other aging metal band can match them. And for the record I find Lars to be one of the most annoying personalities in music so it pains me to have to defend him.

Coming from a drummer who loves Metallica yet still plays with a single bass drum pedal 'cause it's all I need, I strongly agree. Metallica kicks ass regardless of whether Lars is playing double bass drum parts for one measure or not. Double bass drum parts doesn't make the song any greater and it doesn't define what a great drummer is... John Bohnam being the ultimate example of that.

In a interview somewhere in the piles of metallica interviews in some mags I have, I believe Kirk was once quoted saying, that he wasn't really happy with this solo, something like it didnt get the attention that the other solo's on the album got. Add to that not playing it for oh I don't know... 20 years, and I'm sure it won't be exactly right. And of course its gonna be smothered in Wah, It is Kirk playing it and that pedal is a part of his foot now... Wears them instead of shoes!

@JonMan1994 Yeah, because Vinnie Colaiuta (age 55) couldnt play this in his sleep night after night. Or just about any of Lars' contemporaries in metal, who tour as much as Metallica and play far more challenging stuff night after night. Its not like I'm asking him to play 260bpm Kollias double bass fills. And if you watch Lars' live, he does this with all of the old stuff, not just this song. It just stands out here because the original had such cool fills, and he doesnt play them anymore.

@metallicarox4evR Think about it..... He's done that song how many times in the last 15 years? He could sound more like he used too but his heart is not into it as much as it was when they first played it on stage. It's more like "going through the motions" for them now.

No i hear it perfectly. You can't have it to loud, cause then it interferes with the bass and rhythm guitar and such. They have to have the volumes so everything go together right, like drums, LG, Bass, and RG.
