This video almost makes me cry. Its great to see Metallica paying a tribute to this unique and legendary artist. King Diamond may not please every metal fan, but his historical importance is something to respect.

At 14 I rode the bus downtown my goal that day was to buy the evilest album I could find. I already had a double Venom album but I couldn't get into it. Melissa blew my mind from the first song to the last. Amazing Guitars, Drums, melodic vocals. Satans fall was my fav because of all the changes that just work so well.

You can talk any shit you want about King Diamond, the fact is he has something only few people has : he's one of the major influence of the biggest Heavy Metal band of all times, without him, no Metallica, just listen to Kill'em All, and try to figure how many riffs and breaks are directly influenced by Mercyful Fate... and it's also one of the major bands who led to the creation of Death and Black Metal...

I have been a huge King fan since 1984,,,King Diamond is above and beyond a very very talented musician/songwriter.Seeing him play live and listening to his music hes by far #1 in my book,iI personally can listen to King every single day of the week and NOT want to skip the song(IPOD)know what I mean.Watching Metallica and King do that LIVE was just bad ass!!!Look up ozzfest 2008 King also sing A new level with Scott Ian Max Cavelera, and others...ALL HAIL KING!

It's unbelievable how this new generation don't show respect for King's and Mercyful Fate's legacy. Metal became heavier thanks to this guy. And God damnned, this guy helped Metallica so much in their beginning. Remenber that Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets were recorded in Danmark and Flemming Rasmunsen produced their last decent effort, ...and Justice for All.

22 minutes ago I first heard of Mercyful Fate's Melissa album around 1985 with King D on vocals of course. I was 9 yrs old then. It was on a 12 in vinyl record owned by my older stoner cousin. I was so scared of their music (especially "Into The Coven") I couldn't sleep that night. That is how awesome they are before and now. They became one of my fave bands when I was 12 yrs old.

The vocal master himself King Diamond graces the stage with Metallica doing and excellent job on the vocals for the tracks Mercyful Faith. This medley of songs done for Garage Inc was a great mix, giving credit to the bands that inspired Metallica.. and to put on a Medley of Four songs from the Melissa Album by Mercyful Fate just shows you the respect Metallica has for their predecessors.. btw Melissa is still the best album put out by Mercyful Fate, and is mentioned by numerous artists..

King is definitely an acquired taste, esp. his shrill, shrieking vocals take awhile to get used to but musically King Diamond/Mercyful Fate are excellent, a lot of their riffs are reminiscent of early Metallica. King is also an outstanding storyteller- check out his tracks 'The Uninvited Guest', and 'Halloween'

This is a great song, it is the best combination of songs ever and they are made one. Metallica did a great thing by putting these songs as one. Metallica is a great band. @derplo1 Metallica recorded a Mercyful Fate medley on Garage Inc. over 10 years ago, and this is a much longer version live in concert just a couple of years ago, with each song performed in its entirety. It's cool that you're finally discovering the band, Melissa and Don't Break the Oath are metal essentials (as are King Diamond's solo band's first several albums, like Fatal Portrait and Abigail), and yes, Into the Coven is one of the songs in this clip.
