The fact that this reaction was done without proper headphones was an EPIC fail. It's a must when reacting to music, especially when its an acappella group.

@@bramos488 And especially especially when you've got a Tim Foust or Geoff Castellucci (I can't remember the bass's name in Pentatonix) in that acapella group!💙

Love it or hate it, you gotta respect the guts it takes to tackle a song like this Acapella! Thanks for this video!! ❤

The bass is Geoff Castellucci, who has his own channel of low bass covers.

Well, that's a shame he didn't much care for it, but Geoff never fails to impress. That's cool he's worked with "Him" though, I like them. His mentioning them reminded me about them, I'll have to see if they're on Spotify. Oh, and are you okay Joel? The area around your eyes almost looks like you have light blue eyeshadow on! Is that just lighting? Or are you going retro? As an 80s kid, I wore a LOT of blue eyeshadow! "Omigawd! Like, totally TUBULAR! Gag me with a spoon!" I just dated myself there, didn't I? ("Well, it's not like anyone else would!" Bad-dum-bum! Yeah, sorry I'll show myself out.) 💙

Sucks he didn't like it, probably too close to the band to enjoy anything different lol.

I swear I heard crickets when you asked him what he thought. He didn't like PTX, so why should he give a crap about Voiceplay? Love you, Voiceplay. Sorry for this underwhelming reaction to this beautiful cover. Such a pity. Boo!!!!!!

I mean not everything is for everybody. To be honest, I love Metallica, but this is my favorite version of this song. I can’t listen to Pentatonix .. I absolutely just don’t like the group. Lots of people really enjoy their music so I mean that’s cool but it’s just not for me.

Pretty cool cover. I think it's lacking some of the dark atmosphere typical to Metallica though. Here's another Metallica cover (music, no voice) by symphonic metal band Apocalyptica: kzbin.info/www/bejne/goW8qZiEirpraac . Apocalyptica also did a collaboration with James Hetfield & Rob Trujilo last month on their cover of 'One'

Yes, that is often the thing with a cappella group performances. It often is very beautiful. Insane beautiful. Like this one. But, electric guitar and more raw voices adds another level to it. But, every kind of performance has its charm. You could play this on church organ. Or maybe on harp. Or on a guzheng. Or on pan flutes. Well done it will be beautiful every time. But the energy and feeling will be different.

@@rolandkarlsson7072 That's true. Doing a raw acoustic or acapella cover of a song takes a lot of guts to do, some of the best covers are, like Jose Gonzalez cover of Heartbeats. But it feels like not every cover that is done well (I think this is too) makes for a good cover. Maybe it's just personal taste

@@mandigal8262 I think this is a good cover. I really like listening to it. Its beautiful and impressive. And .... I also like looking at the singers. They are fun. You just have to accept what is missing from the original and appreciate what is added. It could be the other way around, this being the original and Metallica making a cover. What would you then think of the two renditions?

@@rolandkarlsson7072 Good point, maybe that's the reasn for not feeling it, that's impossible to answer with an iconic song like this. I agree with what you said though and can see why people would like the acapella song, these guys are talented artists

Although these guys all sing a million times better than I do they just don't have the emotional pull of Metallica performing this song. Can't help but compare this Violin playing to Jill of U.M. which isn't fair.

Just goes to show that different people have different opinions. I've seen metallica live probably 30 times and I like this version better!
