That's because up until Justice, they simply had Kirk play Dave's riffs, and he wasn't nowhere near as good as Dave, couldn't play the spider chord right in RTL... couldn't keep the tempo right for the lead in S&D...

He's for sure more technically skilled. That being said, Het's riffs are better and his lyrics are on a whole other level. He's generally also a better singer, rhythm guitarist and overall frontman.

@@Broccoli75 Dave's are unique, I'll give you that, and certainly very complex. That being said, I don't find his riffs as heavy, satisfying or memorable in general as Het's. They often sound overly technical to the point that it feels more like a showcase of his talent as a guitarist than something in service of the song itself. And to say Het's riffs are generic thrash when he's got stuff ranging from Master of Puppets to Fade to Black to The Outlaw Torn to Unforgiven II is just wrong.
