Same here. Her voice sounds so fucking creepy in this song. I'm not even that much of a Metallica fan (there isn't one album by them besides S&M that I can bring myself to listen to all the way through). Without her vocal part, this song is pretty much just a generic sounding Metallica song, not bad, but not really that good either. Just wish they would have had her join during the S&M show instead of having the crowd sing her part.

I sob like a baby at the end-- you can feel Marianne feeding off of the audience and feeling the intensity, the band quieting down and transforming a rocking anthem into a primal, religious chant. Like James says at the end, "do you feel the love?" That's what makes this footage so powerful. It captures pure (positive) feeling. Not something common these days.

Marianne Faithful is phenomenal. Having her sing her part to a live audience is truly incredible. This concert will truly be remembered in rock history. Kudos to Metallica for making her a part of the live performance. This is one greatest songs ever written by Metallica, it brought tears to my eyes and made me reminiscent of the first I heard it.
@rbilleaud7 жыл бұрын
Great to see Maryanne Faithful still out there performing. She's like the female Keith Richards, probably taken every drug known to man and come through on the other side. It's sad that she's largely unknown to the younger generation, but she's had a hand in some pretty significant moments in rock history and sang with most of the all-time greats from the Stones to Pink Floyd and countless others. Awesome performer.
@rosiewhitfield1235 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah Maryanne has admitted to doing some hard drugs in they 70's. Well she did date Mick Jagger so it really speaks volumes. Been in the company of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards back in the 70's you'd do all the gear that you could get access to. Women were always submissive to men when it came to drugs in that time in history. Janis Joplin was on the hard gear. She gave it up but then had the pinch to try some again. Her trying the too potent dose she had last, was what killed her, sadly. We're pretty lucky to still have Maryanne with us mortals. Don't know if you were aware of this but she developed breast cancer. She kicked the breast cancer, thankfully.
