Everyone likes to point to one year that was Metallica's prime but in my opinion it was a span of 2 albums: Justice through end of Black. They were at their peak in the studio as well as out of the studio playing live. Every show since Justice has been tighter and tighter which I think peaked around 93ish-94. So you basically have from 88-94 as their peak.....in my opinion of course. That's just how I rated it.

My best friend and neighbor as a kid began playing guitar because we loved MetallicA so much. He had this Live Shit box set and obviously I made copies on cassette tape of this amazing Mexico City show. We knew all the quotes from James and Jason and would mimic it constantly. “Lars has no sense of musicianship” I think he shows amazing musicianship here. His dynamics may not always be on point, but he does good at keeping the subtle intensity of the song while also dropping bombs here and there and his timing is pretty good too. It’s very in control.
