Sadly not, was gonna get tickets for the Corbin Arena since it’s about a 2 hour drive but didn’t get any which they played Beyond The Realms Of Death at that show. Have seen them twice, Louder Than Life 2021 (Richie killed the Painkiller solo) and Nashville 2022 (Glenn came out for last 3 songs)

I saw Halford with his solo band play the title track! I’ve seen “Exciter” with Ripper Owens and “Beyond the Realms of Death” - the most common song played from this album. Best Priest album ever, in my opinion.

They played Saints in Hell on the Firepower tour. I saw them play it at Tulsa BOK Center. It was freaking Epic! Glenn Tipton came out and played a few songs with them and the crowd went wild, it was a fantastic show. I've seen them like a jillion times and that one stands out, along with Defenders of the faith tour and Painkiller tour. PRIEST!PRIEST!PRIEST!🤘

What a song, and such an important one as well, with Rob giving full expression to his anger of frustration at the marginalisation and exclusion of Gay people, and his desire to be "free to speak, with my own kind" The declaration: "This is my life, I'll decide not you" still remains relevant 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍🌈

Congratulations, Metal Pilgrim. In my world, as a huge Judas Priest fan, you just completely knocked it out of the park with this simultaneously awesome and deeply insightful review of one of my favorite albums of all time. You have wonderfully articulated WHY this particular album is so essential in the evolution of Heavy Metal. Also really love the Deep Dive with all of the live footage you've unearthed here. Kudos and big support to you and your compatriots in keeping Ukraine sovereign from the forces of totalitarianism. Long live Ukraine, and forever live freedom!!!

This is the album which turned me from someone who liked Judas Priest into someone who LOVES Judas Priest. Not a bad track on it, but 'White Heat Red Hot' is my absolute favorite - the moment at 3.12 where the song's second major riff - the blues one - re-enters, surrounded by Les Binks' drum rolls, then building to the moment at 3.22 where the riff and Les' solid rythym pattern lock together, remains as thrilling now as when I first heard it

Wholeheartedly agree there. Stained Class took a few more listens to grow on me than for example Sad Wings but to someone who's gone through the entire discography Stained Class is the point where everything came together creatively, expressively and emotionally! There won't be a second album as significant as Stained Class just as there won't be a second band as significant as Judas Priest!

Stained Class is one of that few rock/metal albums that we can call a milestone in the history of these two genres. It must have been a huge shock for people back then listening to Exciter and its intro/outro combo not to mention Halford's brutal vocals. Me and my g-f were blessed back in 2018 in Pilsen, CZ when Judas Priest played my fav metal song on this album Saints in Hell finally live. Was pretty surprised how many people chanted along. A slow, groovy, menacing monster with bass line that inspired Steve Harris's own bass line in Wrathchild and that we can without doubt add to the TOP 20 metal songs of the 70's in general. I am not gonna talk about depressive goth anthem BTROD, because it is one of the most notorious story in heavy metal. However while I understand the huge importance of this album it is not my fave 70's album by JP (my fav is Sin After Sin), but I respect the fact majority of JP fans think otherwise and totally respect it. Thank God for this album and I bent over metal Gods and can't wait for their new LP

Never have seen them live, which I so regret. But I gotta say that their 2nd album, Sad Wings of Destiny is my favorite! The album cover is super cool too! Even the the mellow piano song Epitaph is good. God, just think they could’ve went super soft rock easily with a tune like that. But they’ve got great chuggin riffs on that album too! I do appreciate Stained Class tho with Saints in Hell, White Heat, Red Hot & Beyond the Realms of Death too. I first heard Beyond the Realms of Death when my oldest bro VHS recorded their live show I think was in 1982 on their Screaming for Vengeance tour an they play a show in Nashville, Tenn an my bro recorded it when they played the concert on MTV at the time an at the end of the concert when they rolled the credits they played Beyond the Realms of Death an started playin the part of that song when the second or ending solo started so I didn’t even get to hear the beginning of that song, but when I heard those leads, I thought this is a kick ass tune! But they didn’t play that song on that live recording or MTV cut the live version of that song out of the live program. Cuz at the end credits it was the actually album version of the song too. Jeez, now that I think of it I had to have been a Priest fan since prolly I was 7 or 8 years at the time an I’m almost 50! Long time Priest fan!

I just put on British Steel before I decided to check metal pilgrim today! Noice! Metal is like fireworks. In the 70s its like watching a firework blast off into the sky for a decade, and suddenly you finally see it explode in mid april 1980 with British Steel and Iron Maiden and Heaven and Hell. Seriously, the 3 albums that changed heavy metal forever, all released in the same week! thats a freakin coincidence! (just like planet of the apes and 2001 a space odyssey were both released the same day and changed sci fi forever too!) and that one firework dazzles and sparkles for 10 years, and cements traditional heavy metal. then in the 90s and beyond you get dozens of more fireworks, but they never feel as glorous as that first one that started it all.

Stained Class is my most favourite Album by Judas Priest, slightly followed by Sin After Sin, Sad Wings Of Destiny, Defenders Of The Faith and the most underrated Point Of Entry. I love every Song on that record. Exciter is a hint on things to come like Painkiller almost 13 years later. My most favourite Songs from Stained Class are the pretty proggy and rush'esque Heroes End, the epic title track (what hell of an intro and what a magical chorus!) and the doomy Saints In Hell, although Beyond The Realms Of Death would be the most obvious choice. The lyrics on Stained Class are pretty thoughtful too. Just compare the well elaborated chorus of Stained Class with the most simple Breakin The Law. Its a Song within a song. What really makes this album so special is Les Binks drumming. Its a nearly perfect record. Stay safe and kind regards from germany

Like a lot of 80s kids, I discovered Priest with “Screaming for Vengeance” and went back to their earliest stuff years later. Of all that incredible and diverse music, THIS album was the one that grabbed me as the most distilled METAL (along with “Hell bent for Leather”). This really was a transformative sound for the genre and the band, no doubt! In fact, I heard “Unleashed in the East” beforehand and it’s “Exciter” that really peaked my interest in this studio album. I had no idea it’s considered the first speed Metal (not Thrash?) song. Damn! Love and support for Ukraine from Oakland, California! 💙🍻🤘🏽

Dude, Tipton's solo on Beyond the realms of death may be one of my favorite rock/metal moments. Also it's one of the darkest moments in this decade's music because it dealt not with external darkness (wars, social issues, Satan, etc.), but with the consequences of all those things such as extreme isolation.

Stained Class has made a big influence on many metal bands and is absolutely one of Priest’s best albums alongside Sad Wings, Painkiller, Sin after Sin and Screaming. There are a few tracks I consider a bit fillerish (namely Invader and Savage), but the rest of the material is so on point and even somewhat futuristic for early 1978, it is almost scary. It reminds me of Sabbath’s Sabotage (1975) and Maiden’s Powerslave (1984) in refining the song-writing and style of a legendary metal band to perfection in my opinion - after these 3 albums all of the bands had achieved what they originally set out to do and had to change gear, and go for something very different (Sabbath lost it with Technical Ecstasy, Priest went a bit more commercial and straight-forward with Killing Machine and Maiden started synthesizing with their sci-fiesque power metal Somewhere in Time). Only bad thing about Stained Class is, it sounds a bit too clean and needs a heavier bottom end. Especially the original cd sound lifeless, I actually prefer even the remasters which are too loud, but make the album sound grittier and meaner😎 Your ballsack/breasts need to shake to the rhythm of Exciter to feel the full blast and power of the soundwaves. STAND BY FOR EXCITEEEEEERRR!

also, i dont quite see black sabbath as such a big influencer as people make them out to be anymore. at least not until the dio albums. bluesey doom metal became a niche thing after ozzys run. judas priest IMO is the TRUE beginning of heavy metal as we know it and still continues to this day with new wave of traditional heavy metal bands. judas priest was always the first one to invent 80s style heavy metal, years before 1980 even! and the first one to make the greatest metal hit song and anthem of all time too. breaking the law is the epitome of what metal is all about!

I think Stained Class show the path for modern heavy metal. When i heard that album for the first time i was blown away because i was the link between old school heavy metal (Sabbath, Purple, etc) to modern metal (Maiden, Priest, etc.) showing a different way to do metal that wil bacame the standard. For me this album is a before and after in the history of Metal.

Regardless of any individual bands, there's always been a willingness and demand in hard rock and metal to keep taking it to the next level (warts and all). So, as influential as the 1978 Priest records were, it's a rather silly case of hyperbole to claim they saved the genre. Speed, Thrash etc. would have developed more or less the same without them thanks to late 70's hard rock, punk rock and others. And most of the 80's popular metal sounds more like late 70's platinum selling hard rock bands than Priest anyway.
