I have seen the silicon bronze effect on a motorcycle frame. I never thought of using it on drawers. You do some great work. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not going to lie, Those drawers are badass.. Love all the colors that gave the metal.

Thank you sir for the comment, appreciate that, and yea when I welded those pulls on the heat effected zone made some cool colors out of the silicon bronze

Nice touch on the front edges of the drawers, and I certainly like the way that drawer pulls were designed and fabricated as well. Cheers!

Watching your video reminded me of an old cartoon series in Popular Mechanics magazine back in the day, called "Wordless Workshop". Without commentary, but illustrations the fellow would fabricate or build something different every month. You might be just old enough to remember those? Nice work as always Gary. You have an amazing eye for detail.

I have never subbed to popular mechanics, but sems like I have seen some references to that series. I really need music of those parts where I am just working, but it's a hassle as youtube has recently gone back and flagged some of my old vids for copywright even though the songs were free domain at the time i used them
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan8 жыл бұрын
If you use KZbins own songs there shouldn't be any problems. I personally use Incompetech, which is royalty free music by Kevin MacCloud, who even provides the proper information to copy and paste for each song to use in your description. BTW, it was my father who had the Popular Mechanics subscription, though I enjoyed it when I was a young fellow still, before your time probably. I think your videos work well without the music background.

I always enjoy the metalwork Mondays. I see a stomp sheer in your future.
@turbocobra8 жыл бұрын
Yea, I have thought about that and have held off figuring I would buy full sheets and have the plasma table cut out the parts. Not sure how well that will work on 18 gauge without warping it up, we will see. Stomp shear and ironworker are def 2 things I have been looking at. Running out of $ though!

Can't wait to put something like this in my kitchen, but yeah rust is something to consider. The silicon bronze rod, this could be substituted with any sort of rod, to make the drawer pop, right? Thanks for posting!

At 7:30, looking at your shop I-Beams - you could put the same size I-Beam across the V (either 100% or 75% of the span) and then you could put up a hoist and trolley system to make life a little easier for the bigger stuff and the not so big but awkward/large sizes.

Cant tell from the video if those drawers have actual drawer slides installed or not but if they just kinda sit in the hole you can put some nylon/delron strips on the bottom and sides of the box the drawer fits in to smooth the drawer operation up and tighten the tolerances up. Just thinking out loud......
@turbocobra8 жыл бұрын
I thought about putting soft drawer drawer slides on it, but I was looking at this old Equipto Parts cabinet and its very industrial and it doesn't have any slides at all and is well made. But I do like your idea of using a nylon strip to soften and dampen the slide some. Appreciate the input!

How do you keep your port-a-band from jiggling all around in your Swag stand? Mine is completely useless. The retractable base thing on mine has slop, and no matter how hard you tighten down the red knob underneath, it just wobbles around on the little back tab, almost wanting to pop off the table. Oh, I feel the need to share an awesome tool find. I've just completed punching 200 20.5mm holes in 1/4" plate. The thing never skipped a beat... super tool. I got it on eBay for about $650. www.aliexpress.com/item/Battery-Hole-Puncher-Electric-Hydraulic-Hole-Punch-Tool-Range-from-6-5-20-5-with-good/1095323175.html Comes with 5 dies, and it's compatible with some of Hougen's die sets. (P.S. Hougen also sells this exact same model with their name on it for $2700 on Amazon, with a teal handle) You'll never drill holes again, when you can punch them!
@turbocobra8 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. not sure what's wrong with your swag stand? Is it the right one for your brand of saw? My is pretty tight and works well for what it is. Wow that punch is badass! I have been looking at ironworker machines, same thing but stationary, and can shear angle iron and flat bar as well as punch holes in thick material. Of course they are pretty pricey. Thanks for sharing that!
@EcoMouseChannel8 жыл бұрын
I have a mini-iron worker of sorts. MetalCraftUSA has a Pro XL machine that does quite a bit. Between that, the 12" shear (eBay) & Metal Cut Saw, there's really not much I can't handle. But saving up for that Piranha!
