The 55 is in the body shop and Ken and Tony have been busy. The crew took the Chevy down to bare metal, and roughed in the body work so that it is ready for its first stage of primer. Watch as the guys take the 55 through the process of roughing in the body work in this video.

I love the way you are doing these. Showing the work. You can learn so much by just watching those who know what they are doing.....do the work. I could watch them for hours. Thanks again!

"When in doubt, skim it OUT!" Lol. Welcome to my world. I see the "Rage Ultra" being used too. Nice....Another example of WHY there is $15 dollar a gallon "filler" and then there is RAGE ULTRA! Stuff is almost like sandin finish drywall topcoat! Great stuff. And on my favorite car of ALL TIME! TRI-5 LIFER here as well......

Why not put guide coat on the epoxy primer and block sand and then put body filler on low spots etc
@metalworksclassicautoresto9583
@metalworksclassicautoresto9583 4 жыл бұрын
That works great on a single panel, but for an entire body we find it much more effective/efficient to do a float coat to level everything out.

Criss cross.....criss cross......And again.......And AGAIN.......Damn, even got all the jambs skimmed and decked......Yeah, agreed. It IS great to see a major part of the body work phase that ALL/most ALL them stupid ass "reality shows" NEVER seem to show......Lol.

Why so much filler, the body looks great. Crazy!
@jamescon55
@jamescon55 4 жыл бұрын
Like "stated" friend......Near 90 percent gets sanded off. That 1-10 percent "MINUTE lows" is where the filler comes in and makes the car arrow straight. Without the "skimcoat" EVERY little imperfection would stand out. It just ISN'T logical or hardly possible to metal finish EVERYTHING. Lol.......

Looks great! Was the Eastwood contour sander used on panels besides the roof? What is your favorite body filler for classics like this? Love your videos!

Evercoat "Rage Gold" and 3M "Platnium" are fillers Ken prefers, and he used the Eastwood on most of the 55's passenger side...sorry I only got footage of him using it on the roof.

You may answer this question on your next video...with the blocked sanded body filler and some bare metal from sanding, what will be your primer of choice for the next layer?
