Do you buy the fight with the AT-AT's, because I don't It's like the makers of the show didn't know the lore of mass driver cannon and treted it like a lazer shooter. Come on man. The armor, now that is what would stop the bullets, except these are energy coated shooters, meaning there would penetrate a bit since the lazers would get past the sheild as it would eminate from the shell. either that or use it uop and then the shell hits. i get the armor though. I do. The idea is that the rebels simply didn't have mass drivers, and armor was still a thing anyway. That and that the AT_AT's would be new. I don't see why they had to be present right after the emprie got started. I mean, make millions of them, don't let people addapt, then take them out of the warehouse. right after the clone wars, the empries still had to fight and use corvets and have stardestroyers that could shoot down fighters. it wasn't until the imperial age that the emprie didn't care anymore. If you did this crap too early, you would have created a market for making mass drivers and shells,a nd aconcussive missile launchers. If hoever, you weren't retarded, and you had lots of small tank like vehicles and smaller walkers, everyone would go lazer canons, as the supply chains issues would have pushed people towards just buying gas instead. In fact, you can see thecanon industry being so improved that you had speeders that could cause an at-at to blow up in a single salvo. in fact, a double shot was probably enough. This makes more sense. allot of unsheilded walkers, the industry pumps out powerfull canonos, then there are no mass drivers anywhere and you add sheilds. Done. The whole industry allready hardpressed and underground would have to retool and get created from scratch, and you woulnd't be able to hide massdrving production as the only reason you would make massdrivers tis to get passed sheilding, and no one in the imperial side would use mass drivers to get passed sheilding, so you would not be able to get away with suply chaining the most suspicious products that no longer have an industry and have to be made from scratch. case in point, the rebels had single shot AT-AT busters and rope for pulling things, as rope and gas is not trackable, and no mass drivers that could penetrate sheilds. No slugs, now bows and arrows, no crossbows. Meaning the AT0AT's were introduced on hoth with out much doubt, as anyone with any level of intelligence would do. If I was the emeperor, I would have been building these things in absoulute secret for decades and exposed them after hoth, as that is the only sensable strategic choice for a non strategic walker (fear producer)

Modern Tank Doctrine here on Earth are as follows: Don't be detected If Detected, don't be acquired If Acquired, don't be hit If hit, don't be killed One of the best ways for your tank to survive engagements is to not be where your enemy is firing if at all possible. Tanks have to balance survivability, mobility and firepower to create the best platform possible. Focusing too much in one area will sacrifice in the others. The Empire took the opposite direction. Blaster Master Zero probably has the best tanks possible in any sci-fi with the Metal Attacker line, especially MA-01 Sophia III, MA-00 Sophia Zero, GA-01 Gaia Sophia and GA-01(SV) Gaia Sophia Sophia Supreme Vehicle.

No, it isn't. It is almost 6 meters tall, meaning it can be seen with the naked eye from almost 9 kilometers away, while a shorter platform could only be seen at just over 6 kilometers (assuming no terrain features in the way). The position of its weapons, with most of them on the hull, also prevents it from taking full advantage of the most basic tank fighting position: hull down positions. To make full use of its armament, it has to full expose itself to enemy fire, rather than only exposing an armored turret. Such a design option could be justified if it were faster or a smaller target but it is slow (we never see it move faster than a walking pace of 2.5 to 4 miles per hour), lumbering, and huge, standing three or four times the height of the soldiers it supports. Finally, it is not a tank. It is a Frankenstein's Monster of contradictory battlefield roles. It is used as a tank/infantry fighting vehicle, supporting an infantry assault while also being a carrier to two entire squads of infantry, a command post for company and higher staffs, and a self-propelled indirect fire artillery piece. All of those battlefield roles have different requirements. An infantry carrier needs sufficient internal space for infantry dismounts and will usually sacrifice armor and firepower for that. A tank needs to maximize firepower and protection. An artillery piece needs to be able to put as much firepower as possible onto targets well outside its line of sight. And a command post needs to contain all the necessary comms gear for the staff to coordinate the battle. There's a reason no one has tried to combine these roles into one platform. The fact that it can climb a vertical cliff does not make it good. That is a niche (and very BAD) tactical scenario that is more a damning critique of the incompetence of the Jedi as battlefield commanders than it is an endorsement of the platform.

personally, I would have made the AT TE legs similar to a crab droids, that way, it has better turning and can have more armor added and also hep it tradverse more extreme areas easier as well, it might help with a few of the leg's design flaws as well
@Kyzen_Wrell Жыл бұрын
Except crab droid legs were thinner at the feet- and that would have removed it’s magnetic ability to climb 90 degrees or stick to capital ships.

AT-TE and AAT, Republic and Empire. A song from JT Music symbolizes these things well, Empires AAT you'll see it and hope is lost, "Stomp out their hope" The AT-TE, a war horse.. you'll see this behemoth pushing a front line after a punishing defense and all you can think "We still have hope."

They went to do that in the episode, but Mace Windu being the chad he is pushed the front walker off the ledge and got 'em going again. Right after that they deployed AT-RTs to take out the AATs pinning them down.

an easy fix for the turret not protecting the gunner would be to attack a moveable (like the X-wing cockpit hinges) armored canape of just pure armor locked into place on the gun near the bulkiest segment that can open up when not in use and closes to fully seal in the clone gunner from enemy fire or shrapnel.

Star Wars has to have some of, if not outright the most expansive lore of any IP to exist. Like most people probably wouldn’t care about *who* built the AT-TE, just that they were built. But no, there’s actual lore to the manufacturers.

I love the Elite AT-TE from Star Wars: Commander with its mass-driver and the armored covered cockpit and its small slits, but I would also cover the actuator pistons and the undebelly with the heavier, tougher armor (and remove the lower heavy twin laser cannon because it looks weird), and the legs of the Elite AT-TE itself should also be more heavily armored or better protected to reduce its weaknesses. And since none of the heavier anti-personnel laser cannons are visible, I would arm them with six heavier anti-personnel laser cannons who are also medium laser cannon grade, but I want to keep the old AT-TE's mass-driver for its variable munition arryas, where my Elite AT-TE's mass-driver, when fighting against AT-ATs, has the same power of the Elite AT-TE's mass-driver of Star Wars: Commander, where my Elite AT-TE mass-driver is Turbolaser grade, where my Elite AT-TE's mass-driver can penetrate through shields, fire at even more long-ranges and take out AT-ATs, where the mass-driver can still turn into a rapid-fire heavy laser cannon. And, yeah, my Elite AT-TE has two AT-RTs. Call my Elite AT-TE, the AT-TE/e! Still, the TCW/TBB AT-TE's design and aft heavy twin laser cannon makes sense here 0:11 than the Prequel Triology's AT-TE's design and heavy twin laser cannon for aft protection.

If this tank had forward empire protective tech and other things to add on, it'd possibly be the greatest thing ever as an all rounder even tho its not that fast to turn/move. Some things can change of course, but personally this thing is an absolute beast when used correctly. Imagine if all the things wrong with it protective wise were fixed lol Not to mention indestructible legs, the Republic would mass produce these things moreso than Venenators
@calebbarnhouse496 Жыл бұрын
I love the look of the ATTE of course, but it's 3 legged brother is definitely a better choice for artillery platform, if I was a republic general I would stick to that for artillery for cost reasons, and when it comes for the purposes of assaults I'd prefer ATRTs and saber tanks, ultimately I think outside of assaulting a shield they don't really have a place in the clone army, realistically I'd shrink them down, get rid of the transport room, to reduce size weight and cost, move the clone gunner down into the tank, as it's role as a shield buster means it's likely to engange in short range fighting where even a lucky infantry shot can disable the main weapon, or at least offer an override for the main gun in the tank, then I'd want a variant outfitted with a very heavy repeating blaster on it's top, perfect for taking down the unshielded droid fighters, or laying down heavy fire on infantry if needed, while your main cannons focus on hard targets like bunkers, tanks and shield generator

For me it’s just too weakly armoured for the amount of troops it can transport. I love this thing & it’s probably one of if not my favourite vehicles in sci-fi. But the shows depiction of it getting knocked out in one or two shots doesn’t do it justice. Look at real world examples, most APC’s or IFV’s don’t carry more than 8 or so due to the risk of losing a large amount of troops if a single vehicle is knocked out.
@andrewchilds8886 Жыл бұрын
Issue with that is that clone wars doesn’t care about trooper casualties. Every solider is a commodity purchased in bulk. The casualties are so high that it doesn’t matter. If the tank can get the troops to the battle then it can use the cannon as a supporting fire. Once its troops have been deployed it can move to the front to soak up hits while the soldiers take ground. It isn’t meant to be invincible, it’s meant to be expendable and to be valuable for as long as it is alive. It’s a consumable unit able to be sent around the galaxy with no major refittings therefore making supply lines simple. It can be used to kill tanks, troops, and even allow for soldiers to be sent wherever they are needed. The weaknesses are that anti armor weapons are relatively good at their jobs and that the front canopy is too large and exposed

if the empire just made it a bit bigger and gave it some heavier armour and firepower, they would have had a way more effective walker than the at-at that will still keep the imperial higher-ups happy, the at-at has always seemed like a strange choice for me considering where its roots lie
@ohhai1486 Жыл бұрын
More like add ray and particle shielding coz the driver is one of the most vulnerable crew of the at-te. Also the at-te's main weakness coz a single precise rocket to the driver will destroy it. I bet the glass can't even withstand blaster fire.
