i hope it was apparent in this that much of the callouts regarding the people who shill Persona (5/3 Reload) that have attempted to put down Metaphor, were specifically for the people that are all talk, and no walk. that being, people who claim they love the franchise of Persona, and going out of their way to put down any and everything from Atlus that isn't Persona, without even being bothered to actually playing the game (and hazarding a guess, not actually even playing Persona, just watching videos of it in passing and gushing about it online) and defending Persona like it's a perfected masterpiece. if i had called out EVERY Persona fan for being just like that, that'd be me attacking my entire circle of friends & myself in turn. so i understand if you're similar to me & my friends and like the franchise, but are willing to play the game yourselves and acknowledge it for what it is.

I am a persona fan that did come with p5 and i loved all the atlus JRPGs that i have played (P5R P3R P4G SMT3 SMTVV P1 etc), and while i wasn't necessarilly smitten by the concept when i first heard about it in the first few trailers(especially since i didn't watch moret han the first few to avoid spoilers), this demo makes me think it might be the single best JRPG i've ever played once i get to the end. They brought the incredible press turn system from SMT, the visual novel style of story from persona and one of the most interesting premise i've ever gotten to play in terms of storytelling. Also for the no romance option part i gotta say that while it can lead to nice cutscenes i genuinely do not care that the option isn't there, i'm there for the writing, for the gameplay, for the music and for the visual style, i'm not here for that kind of fantasizing.

Wanna add that the initial premise didn't interest me that much because there wasn't too much info, with the little amount we got not doing it for me, and i don't like getting spoiled before a game comes out so i rarely watch beyond the first trailer. I was always planning to at least check reviews on the game after launch or just give it a try myself and not go through with it if it didn't suit me.

No romance option did bum me out a little but not enough to not play the game. Loved the demo so I'll be checking it out day one

This game is good... Like REALLY good. Only the demo, is better than 90% of the "complete" games released this year. Btw... The "Utopia" universe based is Upstanding. When Sr Tomas Mure appears, mi mind was: WTF?

As a Persona 5 and P3R fan, I'm sad that the others who joined the fandom with Joker and the Thieves are trashing so hard on Metaphor. I'm in absolute love, and I only found out about it like, four days before the demo dropped, because I randomly went on the Microsoft Store and typed in "Fire Emblem." Any and all news that I become privy to is due to it working its way into my recs on KZbin, someone in a discord server talking about it while I'm there, or it just blindsides me while I'm minding my business. So while I vaguely remember ATLUS mentioning "project re fantasy" eight years ago, I was still struck unawares. I was caught lacking. You might even say that I never saw this coming. But that's why I was immediately excited after finding it, and when I got the demo, I blazed through it once in 8 hours to get the story and talk with every NPC I could, then I blitzed through the game in 4 hours, skipping all the story bits, so I could master the combat (the real time fighting was where I was struggling, because I wasn't dodging enough). And then I played through a third time to maximize my experience-gain efficiency, and a fourth time to boost my Luck and see how that affected things (turns out, the effect is pretty big-with 20 base luck by the time I tackled the Cathedral, I was able to afford the Tuxedo-without grinding-no problem). Needless to say, I'm frothing at the mouth in excitement to play this game. I've already bought the Deluxe version and everything! I'm so tired of graphics being a talk piece. I don't want to count the individual hairs on an old man's chin, I want to play games with fun mechanics. And metaphor provides! I love how the combat system goes from a small-scale RTS with your typical turn-based battles woven in beautifully and seamlessly, but once you're strong enough it turns into a Dynasty Warriors game. Just slaughter all the low-level chaff before battling the high-level captains. Take that fort! And that's not even getting into how great the music, quality of life, and everything else is. I'm so excited!!
