They did this back in 2010 for retail forex traders in general trading with offshore accounts (avoiding FIFO and "hedging" trading styles). Best thing to do as a US based fx prop trader is to start trading futures. Boris is right about that.

America works two ways. Financial enslavement via debt accept debt expand off government bank money aka your entire life is owned by the bank but you can try to expand if you fail you’re homeless and broke. Or you can be middle class which is basically non existent now but you can break even every week and lastly you have like the new middle class it’s an overleveraged person deep into a mortgage payment for 30 years forced to work forever and still basically breaking even but you’ll get 1 vacation a year. If you see it’s simply financial enslavement via debt and everyone else has to work or go homeless 😆 so essentially this is how the government keeps Americans complaint and working because most Americans are rather unhappy there is no American dream anymore it’s just break even lol the key is simply leaving America or buying citizenship or getting a digital nomad passport and trade anywhere. Financial freedom is outside of America

1. You can easily trade futures through MT5. 2. MT4/MT5 ecosystem has a completely different business model. Their forte is not the prop trading, but Copy Trading though software solutions (Expert Copiers available through MT5 market), as well as PAMM and RAMM accounts. This is how a trader can get an external funding, not though a prop allocation. And sometimes quite big funding, deposites can reach millions of dollars. And not prop notional with drawdown limit, but real money, often with no drawdown limit. So traders can leverege this even better (if they know what they are doing). 3. Also US business has never been the primary business for Metaquotes and forex brokers relying on MT4/MT5. Historically, they focused on the rest of the world. So I would not worry about them. They will just keep going fine. Plus US citizens have plenty of stuff to trade apart from spot forex - futures, options, stocks, crypto, etc.

Futures prop has been around for decades and started the new prop business model after Volcker rule. Where do you think FTMo got the idea from? The CEO from Topstep said it himself FTMo got the business model from them. So you have futures to thank for this idea. CBOT traders are the innovators in the space.

In the past couple weeks I have been demo trading gold with one of the futures prop firms and I find it suits my style of trading very well - much better than Metatrader actually. So, maybe traders should see the turmoil in the Metatrader world as an opportunity to explore a better trading environment.

@@money_5802 if you can read price action and find an edge in forex then futures shouldn't be any learning curve at all. There's no difference in the mechanic ls of price action. Id just say be aware and avoid US news hours mainly if you're on a lower your frame.

As I said the video futures and CFD trading is teh same. CFDs are in fact priced off the futures curve. The one difference is Forex instruments - aside forn EURUSD the liquidity is limited but you can trade GPBUSD AUDUSD the Canadian Dollar the Swidd Franc on CME futures - but its a learning curve

It’s paper trading.. how can a regulator crack down on paper trading. It will all come down to the business model itself hence why regulated brokers like OANDA are launching their own evaluation model firm. They’re betting that if you run it fairly, and transparently (regulated so a must) then you can still profit from the model.

Meta Quotes is definitely not the end all be all of the prop industry. There's so many other platforms to use and trade copiers are adapting also (Traders Connect etc). There's C Trader DX Trade, Tradingview, Match Trader, Trade Locker etc. It'll be back to business as usual soon and MT4/MT5 won't be missed.

1. I doubt CFD will be allowed in US anytime soon. US authorities prefer that all speculation happen through centralized futures exchanges like the CME. 2. Futures firms offer massiev dicounts and I actually find them cheaper than Forex firms. Example many futs firm will have 50K account for $50 which is far less than forex firms

Futures are king. CFD fake derivatives will be forever banned in the states, the precedent is clear Don't get your hopes up on it ever changing. I tested futures FX vs retail FX over a decade ago simultaneously with RJObrien versus IBFX, FXCM and FX solutions (I'm sure Boris and Kathy this rings a bell and some nostalgia) trading the same strategy and it's funny that the futures account was more profitable than the retail FX accounts. The spreads in futures with the RT commission are absolutely cheaper by about 80% than the spread commission you pay these retail FX brokers. You get real liquidity and transparency.

MetaTrader is not the issue. It’s only prop firms. I have personal accounts using MetaTrader. Futures aren’t as liquid as Forex so forcing people over to futures is a huge deal. I can’t trade a 100 lot without slippage on EURUSD futures. On Forex, it takes 10s of thousands of lots to move the EURUSD price.

@@BKForexThanks for clarifying. Also it’s not illegal for US citizens to trade CFDs, although I never do. It’s only illegal for US regulated brokerages to offer CFDs to US customers. Going to offshore broker is not illegal! It’s just hard to find brokers who allow US clients, but they do exist. That being said, I ONLY trade Forex, not CFDs. The liquidity is so much better in OTC Forex than in Forex futures.

One of the reasons so is most of the broker in choice the firm work with are wbite labeld unregulatored brokers thats already losted as a bucket shop, scam broker. The firm collects the fees from the eval, the broker collects the trading commission. A nice handshake between two. Why else many prop firm trading objective focus on scalping strategy? If you win too much, they lower your leverage, impose restrictions on your trade size, and ultimately ban you because the firm losses money. And bride you to stay quiet thst they trade against you, theres already proof of this on Reddit that FTMO had done this.

That is not true. There are no arguable issues with EA's. The EA's are not out there deceiving nor stealing from anybody. An EA simply trades the strategy you tell it to trade - WITHOUT EMOTION getting involved.

I've been thinking about this because I use EAs on 20+ accounts, all sorts of EAs to diversify risk. The biggest problem is specific broker candle data, if I can't log into MT5 on the same broker that the prop firm runs on, then the trades will differ. I wonder if it would be close enough to have little impact on overall results though. Something I've been thinking about, what do you think?

I see some people super excited about futures, but the irony is futures are *way* more dangerous to trade than cfds because of how super liquid it is (prices move real fast especially in Nasdaq and you need wider SLs to not get stopped out every 5 seconds) and therefore requires much more money to start trading it as they're not nearly as leveraged as cfds bc they're completely standardized. Don't get me wrong, I love me some micros, the CME did the right thing creating those specifically geared towards the everyday men or women retail trader so they can try to make some money on the side trading. Yes, trading futures can be really fun, but I'd argue they blow way more accounts and quicker than cfds ever does.

This is not exactly true. There are a lot of firms that are fine just dealing with EU clients and they can use still MetaTrader. A lot of prop firms are switching to using DXTrade to keep us clients and there's nothing stopping anyone in the US from using a demo MT5/MT4 account and copying your trades over to an account linked to DXTrade. People are adapting. So I don't think its a death blow necessarily. Just very unfortunate.

True Forex Funds coming back Feb 19th. Wonder if I'll get my challenge money refunded? I was 2 days into my challenge when Meta revoked their license. I knew then the forex prop world in the U.S. was toast. Last one to futures is a rotten egg.

If U.S. traders can't trade Cfd's these prop firms should just restrict us to trading forex instead of banning us and removing MT4 and MT5. I bought a ftmo challenge before the the banned and was unable to trade for a few days bc of family stuff and now that I am able they removed mt4. I am having the hardest time figuring out the new platform. The new platform is not user friendly and it sucks. Probably going to loose my challenge fee.

No doubt that traders will follow prop firms regardless of technology. With that said, there needs to be a deeper discussion about why US traders are prohibited from trading CFD's by the "Land of the free" government, while the rest of the world trades freely. Talk about government over reach.

Prop firms are not going, stop giving false information lol. Yes, you can't use Metatrader.... It sucks. However, now you will use a different trading platform, that is all. You will still be able to trade prop firms, the only thing that is changing is the trading platform that you are not used to
