I have to agree with you the kits are brilliant. I have many of them now. I haven't a layout to put them on i just like building them. I do intend to put them on a layout as i have many locos and rolling stock. Love your videos keep them up fella

Looks great, Especially when lit up! A great tip there about keeping the resistor outside and easily changeable, I shall have to make sure I do that myself when I start on buildings and learn enough electrics :) Cheers, Michael

Just a suggestion for further interior details a set of firebuckets Shapways supply 3d printed tool bench and tools I enjoy the lighting demo

I've been watching lots of these construction videos for these kits, and I like the suggestion of using LEDs to light them. One thing I have noticed in all the videos is that no one followed Metcalfe's recommendation to paint the edges of the card or the folded corners to remove the white of the card.

That is something I might get round to doing when I complete detailing on each section...

Very nice kit and well executed. Nice detailing as well. Thanks for sharing this. Regards, Solomon

The calculators online to calculate the resistor don't take into account the ambient and temperature rise. Most electronic components at rated up to 50 deg C at full capacity which is hotter that a cup of coffee to hold. To reduce the temperature rise change the resistor from 1/8 to 1/4 watt. Nice video, I am learning a lot about Metcalfe before I purchase

Hi Michael and very nicely done, I did this very similar on my shed too although I used different LED's but the principle was the same, you have done a cracking job of the building mate, excellent video. ...........Graham

I have been learning a lot from you especially relating to lighting and have implimented some ideas, in lighting my metclaffe models that I obtained ready made.. I will mentuion New ones will use your ideas as I build. I hope that you do more very soon. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more. All the best from Paul at No Name Junction. I will mention you in my next channel update...

It is definitely best to put the lighting in before or while you're building it. Nice job of it. Rob

to add i made a longer shed with two kits.(if you have room to do so) works well with two outside workmen/driver sheds one at each end or one on either side,depending on room two tracks can be fitted as well

i reinforce with plastic plain card for extra strength,on all ,Metcalfe Models (just a ideal)and use clear film to stop fading which occure's via sunlight

Great video, I'm thinking of getting this kit myself. However one thing is holding me back, The width of the entrance to the shed. I have two roads going into the shed, but they are a non-standard size. Can I ask please what the measurements are for the entrance to the shed? Thanks.
@geezenstacks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross. It is 10.2 cm, which is just enough for standard Hornby and Peco OO gauge twin track separation.

Hi, Very nice, well put together, video. Have you thought of using a 1K Potentiometer, which you can wire all LED's to it to control the brightness/power to the LED's rather than normal resistors? You could wire the lights to the Potentiometer back to your control board or have the Potentiometer local to the buildings...Simon
@geezenstacks8 жыл бұрын
I think the problem would be that, using 12 volts, I am limited to 4 LED's in each group and so would need a lot of potentiometers to cover the whole layout, so probably not worth the cost. But it will be worth doing for one or two, so the lights could be dimmed, creating a nice effect - thanks for the suggestion!

What gauge of wire are you using within the card construction?
@geezenstacks5 жыл бұрын
the roll says 'tinned copper 26' so presumably 26 gauge - I have had it for over 35 years!
