Well I watched the series and was waiting for you to miss something. I thought I had you when you hadn’t cleaned the brake disc - then at the end you did. I couldn’t trip up the teacher! As a fun fact after related to the beveled edge on your pad, many years ago in the early days of disc brakes on motorcycles we used to bevel the leading edge of the pad, some manufacturers beveled the edge from the factory. It was supposed to make for smoother engagement and less pad chatter. This was pre-floating caliper days. Great series on the subject. I look forward to your take on the new pads once you’ve put some miles on them.

Thanks. My 11 year old students like to trip me up when I spell something wrong on the whiteboard 😂 I’m looking forward to comparing the pads to the organic ones. One week on the new Brembo, no different to the originals (which were RE Brembo). Just cheaper to buy, which is the crazy thing. Thanks for the support 👌🙏

One pad will always wear more than the other as it is a floating calliper the first pad hits the disk first before the second one and with slightly more force. I always use copper grease on the back of the pads to prevent squeaking👍
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
On my rear this was the case. On the front not so much. I couldn’t get any copper grease in my town. Did you put it on the rear of the heat shield, or between the rear of the heat shield and pad?

Good evening to you Teacher T. It's 11:21 am in the UK . Another informative vid that brought back many happy memories of life along time ago. Thank you for that. Regarding that Dunlop S2 front tyre you enquired about ... I've only done about 50 miles since it was fitted. Wet roads heavy traffic so nothing at seed yet. That said it does feel a little softer than the RE stock tyre that came with the bike. I'm still running at 41psi on the front end if this helps. Stay safe and see you in the next one sir 😊👃...

Thanks Les. Mine original Ceta tyres seem to be getting harder and harder with age and Thai Sunlight. Plenty of tread on them, but think I will change them in a few months time. 🙏

Just a tip of what we once did back in the day. Whenever we changed brake pads, we'd use a syringe and remove a little brake fluid then top up with fresh fluid. We still followed the usual recommended instructions but you noticed a slight braking improvement, possible due to new pads naturally? Incidentally my new Hagon rear suspension units arrived this morning. These ones won't change to the bike's profile as they are the same length as the original RE units. I will give you my opinion on the once it warms up a tad and I've fitted them 🤘.

Hi just a comment on your wheel bearings, you said that you couldn't feel any movement, did the bearings feel smooth, did they feel lumpy rough when you spin themat all? The reason I ask is the signs of wear on the axel, this could be the bearing picking up on the inner race and turning on the axel. It's worth checking. Not being picky mate just trying to help.

No very smooth on both sides. I think it is on the rubber seal line. Just come out of rainy season. I think it was the abrasive clay soil. Can’t even feel it with my finger nail. Can just see the line. Thanks for caring 👌🙏

@@Teacher-T-ThailandI just replaced my brake pads yesterday and my axel had a mark on it in the exact same spot. Mine was perfectly smooth also.

The torque values are in my owners manual that came with the bike. Front axel is 65 Nm and the clamp bolt is 23 Nm.
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
Wow. Thanks for that. I didn’t see it. On the RE videos, they just say pop into your nearest RE dealer for a torque check. 👌🙏

How often do you lube your front axel? I love your jack Idea I am totaly going to make one.
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
Funnily enough it doesn’t state in the manual. But with that line on my axle, it needed doing, and I’m at 15,000 Km now. So I would suggest every 10,000 km. Royal Enfield themselves have made 3 different videos on this subject. So something they want you to do 👌🙏

@Teacher-T-Thailand thanks for the video. I am going to go to a local junk yard and try and get a jack and make it like yours. I only have 1400 miles on my Super Meteor but moor grease is not a bad thing. I will grease my axels when things warm up.

Thx, Very instructive teacherlike😀 video which shows what things you can perfectly do yourself with some help. That Brembo brake pads look solid. Do you recommend any specific grease for the front and rear axl as well as for the calipers?
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
You are welcome. Any grease is better than no grease. I did use very basic normal grease here. When they did my rear axle, they used a blue water proof grease. Possibly better. 🙏

Hi Teacher T. Thanks for this series of tutorials help me a lot with my SM, I wonder how your rear brake pads are doing, what mileage do they last, were they able to handle rider, passenger and luggage on the bike knowing that the rear pads you used were for Himalaya 411? Greetings from Colombia! 🇨🇴
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
Very good question. Yes the Himalayan rear pads survived out 2,400km tour of Thailand. 6,000 km on them now and they are still good. Maybe not as much grip as the originals, but now we have established 70% braking on the front and 30% on the rear, they function ok for this purpose 🙏

My 40th birthday is on Monday and I plan to buy the Super Meteor ☄️. Eventually I do plan to do all my own servicing, but in your opinion is the first service fee necessary or just learn it myself and avoid spending the extra 💰?
@Teacher-T-Thailand4 күн бұрын
What a great Birthday present. Life begins at 40 👌 Yes to keep your warranty you should if possible get your first service done at RE. The service is normally free. You just pay for the oil and filter. 🙏

And now my question, do this Pads brake better or is there no difference between the original and the new brembo brake pads?

At the moment I am finding no difference from the originals. Not better. Not worse. But cheaper to buy than the original RE ones. 🙏
