Hi both, I can see why it is on your bucket list, the views from the 3 monastery. Love the greens (either Peter's got a new toy or the photoshop) with the drops, with the monastery perch as background. The forecourt of Varlam, really nice too @5.45 thot Yen was going to say, but now, we are going for a lunch 😅🌮 love today's vlog, the scenery every few seconds apart, breath taking, thanks for sharing and Have a Great Week

Hiya! Oh how exciting, we loved Meteora so hope you will too 😁 we booked Athens (but the station you catch in Athens is called Larissa). There's a city in Greece called Larissa too so that's why it's another "from" option on the website. I had the same confusion initially too 😂😆

I visited Meteora in the late 70's. I had climbed up high and had an overview of a nearby valley where some important ancient battle occurred. From my position I could look down on some of the monasteries. Suddenly the quiet was shattered by the scream of Hellenic Air Force fighter jets passing between the rock pillars and very near to a large monastery. It was an amazing experience to look down upon fighter jets rather than looking up in the sky at them. I do recall feeling sorry for the monks though, having to endure the ear splitting noise of fighter jets passing so close. For the sake of the monks I hope that the Hellenic Air Force no longer uses the area for training purposes. But if anyone has video footage similar to what I have described I'd appreciate if you could upload it.

Do not worry for this. Meteora were built mostly after the time when Islam started becoming prominent in the Balkan area, and the faithful of the Byzantine(Roman) empire receded to this place along many others, and with them they brought their masonry knowledge that helped turn the shacks on top of the columns into full fledged multi floor buildings. So if anything else, the people of Meteora know that technological advance is a means of fulfilling the Christian placed doctrine that God made us into his image, and so that we would be like him. And technological prowess is meant to bring us closer to Him. Fighter jets are just on the current edge of technology, making us think of Dragons or better, Angels. They are welcome. And in 100 years, exo atmospheric fusion powered interplanetary fighter jets, will be welcomed. Meteora will be there to greet them and say hello. For they are the means to the final ends.

Hello , very impressive video! I m going with my wife and daughters (10 &9) to Greece this November and I m planning to spend 8 nights there(8-15 Nov). I ll arrive and depart from Athens Airport. I love nature and landscape and my wife loves buzzing busy cities. On the other hand my kids are not so picky. My initial plan is to stay 2 nights in Athens then I m not sure about the rest. So here is my question.. 1-i will rent a car before I depart from Athens and may spend 3 Nights in meteora but then I m not sure where to spend the next 3 nights.. So is 3 nights in meteora ok or not? And where to spend the next 3 nights? Is Chalcis a good option? 2- do u have recommendation on places that I should not miss in the area? 3-What is the best telecom company if I want to buy a cheap prepaid sim card for data and making calls. *note : I have visited Athens in 2019 and spent 5 nights there before.. **Many thanks

Well I just found out about this place today! There's so much beauty and culture in Greece, but so little time to take it all in.
