He stayed on the air for several more hours, even after his house was hit. Just wanted to make sure his wife was okay, then he kept on keeping on. For everyone that isn't from here, James Spann is probably the most well-known and beloved person on local television in the state of Alabama. He is absolutely amazing, as a forecaster and a person. He takes his job very seriously and has dedicated his entire career to helping keep the people of Alabama informed, prepared, and safe. He knows every single road in every single city, even in the towns I've never heard of, and he knows specific landmarks in those towns right off the top of his head without referencing maps! The amount of lives he has saved is probably astronomical at this point. I'm telling you, he is a hero. We appreciate you more than you could know, Spann, and I'm so glad your wife is okay!

James Spann is a legend, and if he’s in his suspenders with his undershirt then you know its about to be bad

Not only is he a great husband, but doing this shows viewers just how serious it is.

Honestly, making it real like that for some people, being honest about his worries, that probably made people take it more seriously. He probably saved people doing that. It’s not unprofessional, it’s human.

We Alabamaians love and adore James Spann. He and his team work continuously during severe weather giving frequent updates and bouncing back and forth between two, three, or more areas with tornadoes on the ground or a possibility of one. He's a great meteorologist and we absolutely trust him. If he points to your town and says to get in a shelter you do it no hesitation, doubts or need to be told twice.
