When you look at the ship scene at the beginning of your review, and the way the ship hit the dockside, it would have probably breached most of the hull on that side, so it would never have been allowed to sail. The NTSB would have been all over it in no time.

this is the best and most accurate slandering of 2012 ive ever seen. definitely love the movie, even watched it for the first time on 12/21/12 but the movie really is a video game 🤣 the lack of weather focus is odd to me, but i suppose day after tomorrow came out a few years earlier and maybe the studio was trying to avoid rehashing that also i love that 2012 has what is essentially a super condensed "poseidon" with the cruise ship scene. producers really were like "nah that movie didnt need to be feature length.. watch this shit"

well in the making of, they kinda worked with the idea that different types of neutrinos from the sun could interact with the earth and heat it up, causing the crustal displacement, magnetic pole reversals, earthquakes and supervolcanoes erupting and global flooding. So whether that's something from the heavens affecting the land below could be considered a type of weather, as some weather is solar related? Just a thought.

I love how disappointed you are that they missed out on adding more destruction (the lightning) to a catastrophe movie 😂 The worse those movies are, the funnier it gets IMO.

@tc-tm1my11 ай бұрын
I don't think the atmosphere rises with sea level. If you're that high, you'll have trouble breathing regardless. You'll probably adapt over time but you won't have a fun time. Gas dissolves in water so any air would be absorbed into the rising ocean.

If water displaces all of the air at ground level... I guess you would still have air at the new level, but it might be under higher pressure due to the exosphere acting like a cap. Technically you're not changing the mass of the earth by adding all of this ground water to the surface, so the layers of the atmosphere should remain the same albeit a little compressed. Also... That flood is just the beginning of their problems... I'm thinking about hurricanes, and tropical storms now that most of the earth is covered in water. As we all know hurricanes tend to dissipate after making landfall. What do you suppose would happen to said hurricane if you take away most of the land and replace it with water? Also gravity changes with elevation, so they also have to deal with that. At sea level it is 9.8 m/s2. At 1,000 kilometers Above the surface gravity is about 7.33 m/s2. Interesting thought experiment.
